Pattaya 1st week of July 08
Me and Tim26swe are thinking of going a week to pattaya, first week in July. Eighter of us have been there before and now I have some questions.
1. We are thinking of staying at the Secrets hotel, seems like a good place with good price. Opinions??
2. How is the fishing and scuba diving in Pattaya in July?
3. I have read something of other BM's having a good contact in the driving people from BKK to pattaya business, mind sharing contact information?
4. Any other BM's around Pattaya first week in July?
Thanks in advance

I'll be staying at Secrets late April for the first time, as it was a recommendation, and will see what it is like. Will post update on what I think, but from all reports if your not too fussy to have a pool, then should be fine.

Thank's for your input.
Areca Lodge seems very nice also, so Areca is guest friendly?
I've checked the map over Pattaya a bit and Areca seems to be right in the middle while Secrets are more to the south. But a problem with these hotel maps is that there are no distances on them, so to get a better perspective. What is the distance from Areca to the beach? Their site states "..5-minute-walk to the beach front & plaza". Is that about 500m?
And also, is there like a area with all the bars (like Bangla) or is it like all over pattaya? What I want to know with this is if Areca or Secrets have a better location concerning "party activities"

areca isnt in the middle of the action.......all the action is WS...thats wher secrets is.......
areca is a fine hotel.im staying there in 2 weeks time....2 great pools....as for the beach..the main beach in patts is crap..you are gonna have to travel either 10 mins north or south to get to the nice beaches.
the distance between secrets and areca is a 10 min walk...ij

Unless you are a dedicated monger/ drinker.....Plenty of much more luxurious establishments than Secrets to choose from.
Here is another recent addition Balitaya Resort, Pattaya Thailand
You shall need to conatct them for rates depending on your duration of stay, although a mate of mine stayed there in Feb for 1250 per night for 2 weeks.

Okey, well I have to discuss with Tim which hotel to go for, sure would be nice with a pool.
Okey, now a stupid question, If you take a BG back to the hotel. Can she use the hotels facilities, like pool, sauna etc... Is there a differance if the hotel is GF/Non-GF ? I usually go swimming at the beach in patong, but if the beach is crappy in Pattaya, then maybe the pool is a better idea.

Looks nice, especially the pool area. Their rates are 2000 according to the site? Is it GF?

Now im answering my own posts, 55555
I meant that if was any difference if the hotel was GF or have joiners fee
But I guess if you have to pay to get your girl into the hotel, then she can use the facilities also

The Balitaya hotels pool is quite small. Rooms are nice.
Never stayed there but had a look at the rooms. Areca pools are much bigger, both of them

Areca Hotel is very good value for money. I stayed in an executive room because the suites were booked out. Rate was 1300 per night in the back building. I believe the front building rooms are nicer as they have been re furbished. The room I stayed in was very big and comfortable and overlooks the second pool. Hearty breakfast buffet with quite a few choices. It is quite a large property, not the compound type like the 5 stars.
But be warned. An embarrassed receptionist told me at check in as the room was what I thought I heard she said a single an additional guest i.e. 2 girls in a room would be an additional 500bt. Now I can’t recall if I booked a single or a double. So perhaps check that one out. I would say that 90% of guests were mongers. This observation is based on who was in the breakfast room and around the pool.
It is very close to then new shopping centre on 2nd road. It’s not in the middle of the action but very close to second rd but then the action in Pattaya can be anywhere. And there are bars and venues within the vicinity of Areca. There is a nice little indoor bar from Areca towards 2nd road call I think called pappayo next to a pizza restaurant. Nice decked out bar and some nice looking younger girls. Nice place to start the night with.
If you check the website, it is exactly the way it is.

Your right Nel. Always book for 2. Im sure did when I made the initial booking for the suite as I always do. I just assumed it carried on to the counter offer. Plus I knew Areca was GF. But just to clarify if you bring more than one girl back to the room you will be charged a joiner fee. I would imagine this to be at the same time too as opposed to bringing one after the other at different times.

Bad luck, atleast I go home on the 8th, so I have to leave Pattaya early morning. But maybe you can show us a few diving holes on the 7th When on the 7th will you be arriving?
