may be im posting stupid guestion but is there any small airport around pattaya ?
if so, whats its name (abbreviation)
do they operate some local flights from/to there ???
any info appreciated

yes its a little way outside pattaya and i think its called utapao,but not sure on spelling.

There are 2 airports:
Pattaya airport (PYX) which in fact is an airfield.
U-tapao international airport (UTP), located at about 40 minutes from Pattaya by taxi. Like most regional airports in Thailand, it's a military airport that is also used by civil carriers.
Airlines that deserve U-Tapao airport:
Bangkok Airways (daily flights to/from Samui & Phuket)
Orient Thai (flights to/from Bangkok)

I assume that if your on an international flight you would be landing in Bangkok,

I was told to get a taxi from Bangkok to Patts about 1hour45 travel time and costs about 1500b.

Am I correct????

P.s If your not starting from Bangkok forget the above.

yes....U-Tapoa airport is still 50 mins from downtown Pattaya so you are definitely better off taking a taxi direct from BKK airport which will take about 1.5-2hrs depending upon traffic and should cost approx 1000bht.....

It is not economical to pay flight to U-Tapoa from BKK in time or money

Hi tonycott wttb....A taxi from new airport-pattaya city is 1200b inc tolls. Mr Toom is the name. You can email him to get a price to u-tapao airport....

ALL I CAN SAY is that if i was travelling from pattaya to phuket/samui or samui/phuket to pattaya i would always 100% of the time use pattaya airport (UTAPAO) BANGKOK AIRWAYS 100% reliable service

but arriving at bangkok airprort to go to pattaya then definately take a taxi its not worth the expense or time saved to fly from bangkok to pattaya .

i used bkk airways on the route bkk-phuket-bkk
very satisfied !
i plan to fly from phuket/samui to UTAPAO next time i visit thailand...

by the way:
-as far as i know, there should be flights between PHUKET-SAMUI,
IS THAT RIGHT ???

-r there any flights between SAMUI-KRABI ???
in other words, what is the fastest & most comfortable way to get
from/to SAMUI-KRABI???

-what is the fastest & most comfortable way to get from/to
PHUKET- KRABI ???

NOT SURE IF THEY FLY DIRECT TO REACH THESE PLACES....MAYBE YOU WOULD HAVE TO FLY BACK TO BKK FIRST??????
