Pattaya maybe
After visiting Phuket for the last seven years, twice a year I am looking for a change and thinking of trying Pattya.
This board has helped me before and it is how I found my favorite hotel in Phuket called Salathai, which has nice clean rooms, no joiner fee and great location.
I am now lookign for something similar in Pattaya, something clean, safe, no joiner fee and great location.
Can you guys help out and make a suggestion please?
Thanks

Do you want stay in the thick of the action, or do you want to have a quieter area and then visit the lively scene as and when you feel like it?
Hotel with pool?

I am just looking for a safe place, nearby the action, somewhat quiet that does not rip me off when I bring a girl back with me.
Other things I am looking for are an in room safe, and free wireless.
I was looking at the Sabai Resort and Sabai Hotel based on some of the feedback in this forum but always open to ideas.
I guess my budge would be $85 per night.
Also how do I get there from BKK airport? Taxi? Will I get ripped off, is it really a two hour drive? I will be coming from Cambodia
Thanks for all the replies, you guys are the best.

Transport, do a search for Mr Toom on the forum.

Anywhere in around Soi 7-8 will put you right in the thick of things, and from BKK to Patts, about 1 hour 40mins in a cab, depending on your driver and traffic, should expect to pay 1200THB including tolls..

Divide that by 2 and you will still have some change. As suggested, Areca lodge sounds like a good place for you. I think they have in-room safes.
Taxi from BKK? then book Mr. Toom or Mr. T (mr_ttaxi@hotmail.com). Give them your flight number and date and they will meet you at the airport. Advantage of booking a Pattaya taxi is that they will easily find your hotel, especially Mr. T as the office is across the road to the Areca.

If it's near the action then you won't really be quiet. Don't make the mistake of staying close to the action and then hating your stay because '' Pattaya is too much in your face''.
