Sorry if this is a repost, didn't see it come up.

Well, this is my first real post. I just returned to Iraq from Pattaya, and boy oh boy was it a blast. I flew into Bangkok on 29 August and walked out the terminal and got a limo ride to Pattaya. It ended up costing me 2500 baht, but I think it was worth it. The limo driver really didn’t speak English that well, but proficiently got me to the Marriot. As far as the hotel stay goes, was enjoyable, but the price listed on the web was lower. The first night I got in, I ran into a couple of Brits. Actually, one was English, the other Welsh. We seemed to be getting along splendidly; however, as the night eased along, and the Brit got more drunk, he became less friendly. The Welsh maintained. At any rate, I eventually took my goodbyes, and went back and slept.

The next day I went for a non-happy ending massage, well deserved after four months in Iraq. The rest of the afternoon was spent lounging and swimming. That evening, I swung my Killkenny’s and had a pint of Guinness. God bless the Irish. I then walked down a few doors and checked out the FLB bar. Wonderful place, laid back, nice people (and owner—met Ben on the second night), and just a welcoming atmosphere. Talked to mamasan and bought her a drink, telling her what I was looking for. This netted me a couple of girls swinging by and talking to me, but none that I was super interested in. it wasn’t that they weren’t nice, or attractive, but rather not my bag.

I spent the better part of the night drowning my western inhibitions in Bombay Sapphire and tonic, and eventually one of the girls walked up. Not super attractive, but has a nice smile and bubbly personality. We talked for awhile, and I found out her name was Ae. I decided that I was probably not gonna sleep alone again, so when asked if I would barfine her, I dragged my feet but said yeah.

The first night, I obviously had too much alcohol in my system, so it took forever to do the deed. She made the obvious observation that I had too much, to which I could only give a bald face lie that I didn’t. My German grandfather would be rolling in his grave to hear that one of his descendents couldn’t hold his liquor.

The next morning, she and I went out, and what continues to annoy me about that country (other than the obnoxious tailors) was when I asked her where to go she said “up to you.” I asked how the hell it could be up to me if I was a first time visitor to her country and wouldn’t know the first thing about what to do. She then decided to go to the elephant show, which actually made me feel a bit dirty. For that animal being a deity or whatever, they sure aren’t treated well. Funny thing was that before the actual elephant show, they had traditional Thai song and dance, along with some re-enactments. During one, about some long past battle, a bunch of Chinese tourist got up and left. I guess they were pissed about the ending or something, wasn’t really able to determine.

Ae and I spent the rest of my time in LOS together, and when the time came to leave, in fact before the time came, I decided to see what it would take to get her outta the game. I’m a fairly astute judge of character, in fact I usually correctly decide in the first 5 minutes of knowing you what type of person you are, and I really think it could work out between us. I know, a lot of you are reading this and snickering, and I most likely deserve it, but what if I’m right? It would be the easiest thing in the world to decide that “Pretty Woman” was just that, a movie, the BG was playing me perfectly, and when I go back to butterfly. As I was saying, my spidey sense is not giving me these bad vibes, on a number of reasons. She’s been in Pattaya for 5 years (confirmed), has a child of 8 (not confirmed as far as age goes) and is just pushing up on 26. Also, she said that she could live up with her parents on only 20 000 baht a month. This seemed fair enough.

I guess the real reason of this post is to get some sympathy from some BM and have them check into the situation whilst in Pattaya and see if she was stringing me along, or if she’s really out of it.

to be honest, she wasn't really making grand overtures about getting out of the bar scene, but it is something we discussed. really deep down i'm a pessimist, and maybe i'm just thinking the worst of her. since i didn't give her any huge amounts of money, in fact only the 20k baht for the time we spent together, i'm not too deep in. more than anything i just wanted to get either some sage advice or a byatchslap to wake me up. i'm not overly concerned about past relationships, by that i mean i know she's a bargirl, and there's baggage to go along. i'm not one of those insanely jealous clouts, in fact i had her raging at me and accussing me of being a butterfly since we mostly went back to her bar and i had no adversion to flirting with the other girls. however, she was always the one i took back to the hotel room.

have been there with this one so i feel somewhat qualified to talk on the matter

it can work- my thai gf was only a few months into the bar scene and she hated it but had to earn money to support her family like most newish bgs do i came along and we clicked straight away -i was actually with someone esle wen we got together and she made it obvious she liked me.

she didnt even want paying she was just happy to be with me- i did of course give her money.

and i aint an adonis or a real handsome man lol.

she is hopefully coming over here once i sort all the visa stuff out- next week by the way and we talk on the phone all the time.

one word of caution - 20,000 a month??????

that is a lot- the average thai monthly wage is probably no more than 5,000bht

i myself send my tg 8,000bht every 8 weeks or so and i know she is back in her village and not back in the bar scene and that is wat you have to beware of.

you say that she hasnt particularly said she wants out of the bar scene and she has been on the bar circuit about 5 years so your spidey sense should tingle there. a lot of thai girls are experts at manipulating out farang emotions to suit their needs.

if she truly loves you then go for it. there are girls out there that want to find a farang to settle down with and be happy for their own reasons mind..

good luck with it but keep an open mind and a sensible head on .

I appreciate your thoughts. I was told that for a young guy, the best time to get them was right after they started working (I think i fall in this catergory--I'm only 26), and the best time for a geezer to get them is when they are finishing up working.

Your story is quite similar to mine, I really wasn't looking for this girl, but we did end up together, and she was loads of fun. She wasn't really pushy for money, but did say something on the last day--obviously I paid her well.

That did seem like quite a bit of money, and in the letters you know she is sending me, she mentioned she didn't have a father. I really wish there wasn't a internet cafe girl translating stuff.

She has said she wants out, but she is a very reserved person, maybe I'm just not reading all the signs? I don't think she's trying to manipulate me, in fact I may be being too pushy. Damn, I need to keep my emotions in check.

Being young is a bonus and dont believe anyone who tells you otherwise, Its an open playing field in Los, No matter what age you are if you have the money, The girls will come but its an extra bonus being young

I should know "Im a young ugly bastard" but the girls still love me (ST

) at the start of the night and at the end of the night

I didnt say that, I was just pointing out that im no oil painting, Just an average looking bloke but still have no problem getting the girls I want, Whether its early or later in the night, And neither should you no matter "If" you are a good looking bloke or an ugly bastard, And certainly not because of your age either

Who gets the best attention (ignoring the money side) from BGs. An ugly 20 something or a drop dead gorgeous 40 year old?

The beer in Pattaya is definitely much cheaper than in Phuket from 40-45 baht for draught beer..and this is not during happy hour.
