Best time to fly to BKK

Trying to fly to BKK from San Fransisco on standby with United. When would be the best time to try and the day of the week? Thanks for any help.

Obviously mid week loads are normally lighter when travelling anywhere. Are you talking about travelling on an ID pass, if so you have other means available to you to determine loads. Why not ring UA direct and ask them.

Will be flying on a companion pass. Checked with the airline as best as I could, They will only help so much with researching this on there computer. Thought some members here might have noticed when the planes aren't filled to capacity. Allready have tried to get to BKK in July but the plane was filled.

United employees have the ability to check flight loads which can pretty well tell you which days are best. As a general rule, Tuesday and Wednesday should be the best, but you never know about big tour groups that might take up 1/2 of the plane on a particular day.

There are two UA flights from SFO to NRT daily, both 747-400s, and the plane from NRT to BKK is also a 747-400. This is the largest plane United flys so you shouldn't have problems if you are flexible.

Go back to the employee that gave you the companion pass and ask them to research the flight loads for you.

Remember you have to get back too.

Well i travel from Amsterdam to Bangkok around 4 or 5 times a year on China Airlines. Every time that plane is totally occupied in Economy and around 75% in Business Class. I doubt very much that CAL have a standby programme

Thanks for the help. Was just trying to find out if there was a good time to go when the plane wouldn't be so full.
