Animating burst mode pics

While out at the boxing the other night I took 100's of burst pics.. The sony takes 16 pics in a couple of secs and put them 16 to a panel on a 1280x960 frame...

The sony viewing SW autmatically shows them as an animated sequence but they are a normal JPEG with a flag..

I have been searching for something to convert them into an animated gif or even just cut them up autmatically into the small frames ?? The Sony SW is pretty awful for anything other than viewing.. Cant find anything so far.. Would have thought there was something for this as it cant be that uncommon..

For the serious photo guys.. Theres some real gold at the boxing if you went out back where the fighters warm up and psyche up etc...

If you have the contacts I would love to take a trip to a boxing event that could get us back stage access, that would be quite something. I'm not out there for a while but would love to do that.

Animating sequences? Never thought about that. I guess they are all single jpeg files so it would be something like a power point presentation? Maybe you could get some of that funky music they play and run that in it too?

Yeah they are a single 1280x960 frame with 16 sub pics.. On the camera or on the Sony SW they show as a small animation.. Not bad for catching punches or kicks at high speed..

Thing was I was way up the top of the stands and at max zoom.. Also trying to watch and enjoy the show.. So loads of shaky low focus shots...

I did find an automation script for imagemagik but it seems to be for the linux versions only..

Not sure if your jking but the T9 does have a really quite cool slideshow feature.. Just press it and each slide blends into the next in a different way and also plays music (you can upload music to it) either on the screen or TV out.. The slideshow is quite an appealing feature when people are just wanting to have a look at the snaps in the cam but next time I gotta delet all the smut firts..

Forgot to say.. I know the Boxings owner / major partner.. Taking lots of pics is not an issue and the backstage area is just the tunnel to the toilets the guys seem pretty cool but obviously I wouldnt want to be too in thier face while they are getting psyched or prepped..

Opportunity for some great images of amped guys with hands bound with boxing tape, linement oiled and ready to ruck.. Dont think it would be a problem especially if you were friendly and handed out a few 100 bahts.. If you were seen there a few times I am sure they would open up also.

The gamblers pit is a funny sight too.. They get pretty amped and animated as the night progresses.

Last nights one wasnt as much fun as the night I went with Gier, somehow didnt get into the whole chanting thing and letting yourself get carried away and caught up in it.. Think I might go down a bit more often though..

Sounds cool, will have to make a trip soon.

For the software, I can only think that you would have to cut them up yourself and then there are jpg animators that you can use.

If you use PS, you could just save it as an action so you only have to do it the first time manually.

Morpheus may do the job, and it will output to swf so, so good for the web

Sorry, not joking just thinking aloud. I've never seen jpeg's animated so it's an interesting idea.

I have no advice other than echoing what Syeatman said.

But I wonder, does T9 have a movie mode aswell? May be an easier way to make movies/animations.

But I guess somebody already out there has made scripts or tools for the Sony format.

I use Macromedia Fireworks for stuff like that, should handle what you want.

Yes it does have a movie mode but the multi burst mode is ideal for fast short things like punches and kicks..

As I said the Sony SW is crap.. Very faeture poor but the camera and the Sony SW shows these by default as a stop frame animation, about the only good thing it does, shame theres now crop or export to gif functions..

I might try manually cutting and splicing one to give an idea of what I mean.

Same here, I use Fireworks to slice designs into smaller parts, for e.g. webdesign. In Livinlos case, just slice each frame and then export it and all slices will be a separate file, can be exported to gif or jpgs.

For making an animated gif of it, I would use Adobe ImageReady as I used to do such things there. (I know Fireworks can do that aswell but I just use it for slicing and web optimizing)

Photoshop can also do slices but I never did that in that program.

Without knowin what you plan to do with it. What first comes to mind is to make a flash movie out of it. (*.Swf) With Macromedia FlashMX.
