Well I just had a great afternoon..

A few days ago we stopped at the end of Soi Sunset down near Tai Pan and talked with a girl who had a pet monkey.. My own little monkey

flipped out and made a point of befriending this girl etc..

So spinner heads down the shops and when she returns look what she has with her.

Spinner has been rerally pushing for a pet dog or anything to take care of (dangerously hormonal I suspect) and somehow we ended up with one of her mates Budgies which then turned into 3 birds (the monkey was fasinated by the colored birds.. Really curious..

Of course she wants a monkey (I am really going to get the extended disco edit EP 12 inch on this I am sure) but even though I cant admit it, I am sure into the little guy.. At the moment I am just a flat out 'NO' and theres no discussion allowed in the house but I will secretly learn a bit more about them.. He was just so curious and cool.. Also he really immediately bonded to me and wouldnt go back to spinner (she was a bit put out).. I imagine they woudl be nearly as much work as a baby, a lot more than a dog.. But he was just so curious and fun..

Good stuff LIL......is this the same liitle mite l seen in Tat-u-chit Rd bout 7 days ago.....had attitude...probably not....would be a hit with the chicks if l took it "walkies" down near the caffe latte set tomorrow in St Kilda, Melbourne........mite even pull...........myself !

You would get alot of attention if you did you bar hoppings with a monkey on your shoulder. And also you could teach the monkey to direct you to your motorbike after a few beers to many? (If you dont lose the monkey that is)

I have to say tho, once the girl wants a dog it wont be long untill she wants a baby too.

After he had been playing with me for an hour or so he really didnt react so well to her.. Kept struggling away and crying.. She took it kinda personally..

Of course.. True to form with life.. No sooner do you open your heart to someone and they shit on you !!! In fact there was a few times I got pissed on but monkey shit didnt make for a good look..

The girl (owner) said to Bee he hated water but he didnt resist much and seemed to handle being showered without freaking out..

Well thats as many as I can be bothered to post.. Really its just more of the same but he really made my day..

I think my GF is planning to get him again tomorrow and I can see that there may be a monkey sitting thing being worked out.. That I wont complain about as its the fun without the responsibility (like spoiling your nieces or grandkids I guess)..

I am worried that they are gathered and sold by hunting the mother or some other horrible trauma.. I would hate to be any part in something like that but I have to say I was really taken by him.. Seeing him thinking and looking at things you could see the intelligence in him.. Superb !!!

aww that's cool. i would be extremely weary of having a monkey as a pet tho. They carry some nasty diseases and it only takes an accidental scratch.

Also, how big wil he grow, if he's still a baby now he is already as big a monkey as I would ever want to have.

I have seen adult ones that are a little less than double that size.. A lot smaller than a gibbon.. Theres a farang (italian) long term resident that rides around Nanai with 2 one adult and one a little older than this..

I would be real leary of having a male one though.. Reckon the testosterone and horn would be a problem.. Really its one of those things I would love to do but my fear of commitment or responsibility wil stop me I am sure..

As to disease I have no idea.. Surely you would have a vet give him shots and things.. Not convinced that they are plague carriers, I know people ho kept rats as pets and ferrets and other horrible critters..

I know it sounds really soft but he was so much fun.. You could see his little mind working, you could see his curiosity with new things (budgies), like just bagloads of personality.. The flip side of that would be he would need major major attention, it would be really unfair to have an animal like that that you didnt just keep as your constant companion.

Brilliant pictures, looks like a cool little fella.

I think monkeys can carry rabies, can they not? So you would want to be careful about getting them looked at etc. but what a neat little dude to have around the house.

I love monkeys and always wanted to have one as a pet. I actually looked into it few years ago and were told they may be available in Ranong for about 5,000 baht. But they are not so easy to find anymore since crackdown and making (enforcing) trading of monkeys and some other animals illegal.

Maybe best that way, after all. As LIL pointed out, they usually shoot the mother to get the baby monkeys.

I guess I have to visit LIL then
