Auto focus problem
Any help appreciated
I have a Nikon F55 bought it about 3 years ago and haven't used more than 6 films with it. Just got it out of the box and it wouldn't take any pictures, there is a black dot flashing in the viewfinder, so read the book and it says auto focus, ok no prob. But now I've tried taking different shots, outdoor, indoor everything, switch the AF to Manual and it takes pics, turn it back and black dot flashes and it wont take pics. I'm sure I've always used the auto focus and I'm sure the lenses that came with it are compatible, When the AF is on the manual focusing ring wont move turn it to M and it moves, so that part is working ok. Is there something i have missed or is it a trip back to the shop. Thanks

Do you have a M\AF switch on the lens as well? I've fallen for that a couple of times switching between the two modes.

No switch on the lens steve.
But I've just been searching the Nikon website and there is an electrical fault reported with the F55 and the Auto focus, they will fix the part even if the warranty has run out but I'll try my local Dixon's first as i still have a valid warranty on it.
