Today

Another amazing sunset round our way tonight. I was watching the rugby on the TV and they kept on showing these incredible panoramic sunsets. The view from my front garden is not quite Twickenham but we are under the same sky.

the sunset on this side of the country was the same btw ,must be a lot of dust high up in the atmosphere.

Round our way it's:

Red sky in the morning, shepherds warning,
Red sky at night...........Barns on fire!

It is an old English seaman's saying, meaning that you can expect fine weather when the sky turns red in the evening, and you can expect storm when the sky turns red in the morning.

Saw some explanation once...

Forgotton now but maybe based on the predominant weather pattern being one direction and red sky being caused partially by temp changes (rising air in west at sunset ???) it was a partial predictor.

Didnt apply globally tho IIRC..
