Sunsets over Laos
I am a total amateur usually just point and click with camera on auto.
Took all these picture in 5 minutes with adjusting exposure etc i'll post them in order i took them I was surprised how they went from light to dark and back to light.

There's one witht my girlfriend in but I notice now she never came out that good guess the camera was still focusing on the light in the background, I know there is setting for portrait with light in the background somewhere I could have used but i didn't see the image properly on the camera monitor.
Last two were slightly later (about 15 mins)

The coolpix S2. That camera has a lot of features maybe you are using the wrong settings?
I'm no camera expert though.
