I just got an e-mail from a friend with these images attached, wasn't sure whether to post them in the photgraphy or computer section. Does anyone know what software may have been used in creating these images, I would like to have a play with that.

Its pretty easy when you know how - finding 2 images that match well (creatures looking the same direction) is actually the hard part. Colour match and then blend.
Takes time to get it just right but is fun. Distorting the faces of people you know is even more fun tho.
Sorry for sounding cynical but that's not answering the question, really easy to use the liquify function to distort images, but the question is how do you sew two images together seamlessly ??? Not just paste in (Sef will recognise the character in the thumbnail below) but do the artwork in the original images I posted. Can this really be done with photoshop? I think not. Rob you say colour match and blend, what about matching texture, morphing from feather to fur. No function on photoshop that I can find will do that. Please help !!.

Admittedly, this is a bit different than what you’re after, but this is a quick step-by-step of the Mav – Gates morph I did (and the Trump one). Sorry Mav.
Note: This is a very beginner’s guide. The morphs you submitted would require a -whole-nother set of tools. Also, mine are very rudimentary.
Obviously, first you need to find two photographs that could potentially match-up. The coloring and graining could be different, of course, but that would require more tweaking.
You then need to consider where you want to splice the two. In the Gates ex I cut it around the glasses and in the Trump ex on the forehead (to keep the “hairline”).
With the cutting you can zoom in and use the lasso-tool. Try to get it as smooth as possible. You could then use the Paste Into function to fit into the surrounds.
When to try to blend a cut into its surrounds, you need to tweak the coloring. First you can play around with the Color Balances and the Brightness / Contrast (both on the cut and the background). Also try the levels. Next, you can do more “blending” with the Smudge tool and also the Cloning (I used that to mimic wrinkles on the forehead in the Trump ex).
Don’t think there’s an easy (magical) function to use within Photoshop. Just play around with it.

ok - the way to blend fur to feathers is with layers and careful deleting of the top layer with the eraser tool set to a large brush and about 30-50% opacity.
Find me two seperate animal pics thats look like they will go together and i will do it. Or come visit and i will show you how

Cheers mate. I will PM you my email if you can reply with a blank mail then I will send you a couple of photos to blend. Could you send the result in *.psd then I can see the layers you have used and get an idea of the process.

I have gone from a doubter to a believer. These images can be created with photoshop as has now been demonstrated to me by Dr Hobbsy. Gonna be a while before I create anything this good but already having fun with it. Cheers mate.
