Best steak Ive had is at shakers, spot on what livinlos said, found ricos steak a bit tuff and riddled with fat

For me thai food in phuket is average & very expensive compared to the rest of thailand

(dont remember the name of this place maybe someone knows?)But i u want to eat good seafood in phuket, head out of patong towards phuket town, just before central u turn right head up a dirt track, there is a lake there with covered rafts, u can pull urself out onto the lake feed the fish and eat well for 4-5 people including drinks for about 1200-1500 baht. Thats the price u will pay at the seafood restaurants around central patong

Dont know that one but it sounds cool.. So head out of Kathu on the central Rd.. Presume past the 'shrine' area on the corners leaving Kathu.. Then before Macro somewhere ??? Will give that a hunt..

2 more good resturants thats Thais head for..

Go to where Phuket Zoo Road leads off of the Chalong / Phuket town Rd.. Go past the Zoo and follow the road all the way to the east coast.. Right there is a little plain looking resturant that serves superb food.

Or Go to tesco lotus.. Head to phuket town.. Just 500m past the tesco traffic lights theres a road on the left.. Follow that round the first couple of bends and there is a large wooden resturant on the right hand side. To be fair when I went there it was either in the company of a 50% owner and another time at a mates wedding reception so its possible we got extra special treatment but this place ranks right up there in my list of Thai joints.

Just looked at Google eart Gee.. Cant find that place you mention..

hi graham , we had a similar thing on the 201 , just after phu kradeung , about 10-15km on the left hand side , if coming from Chumpae direction , same type of restaurant by the side of a lake , with those covered rafts , that you pull yourself out on , at least a dozen good sized prawns , other dishes of thai food and a large beer , bill came to 180 baht for both of us.

I'm thinking of buying some land up there in the next year or two, in the wifes village - yet to make a visit, although I'm sure that when I do it will be humorous.

At the risk of sounding obvious.............and it's probably more of a farang experience than most BMs like.........I am very fond of Savoey Seafood restaurant just on Beach Rd around the corner (north oposite beach) from Bangla

I know that it is not cheap by Thai standards......even probably farang......but I have always had great seafood here chosen fresh from the ice "table" and BBQed........just the way I like it..........with plenty of lime

I imagine it would be a great romantic date destination too.....I don't know as I always end up with mixed dive groups here.........but I have never heard anyone I've dined with here say that it was less than great ....................good wine list by Thai standards too!!

Hi, Horatio;
Keith Floyd ,the comic English Cook, is joining himself to the Burasari soon and opening his own restaurant ;
I'm sure he'd do a "BEEF WELLINGTON" for you .
How's Emma these days?

Oh, by the way, I've a very nice book, "Nelson and Emma" with many pics, shows what a cracking looker she was.
