Two things I want to experience and haven't yet:
Easy one (since Norway is not that far from the UK):
See the Northern Lights (probably at Tromso)
Difficult one (since it's far and it needs a whole month):
Cross to Antarctica from Tierra del Fuego.

must say the idea of travelling and exploring anymore cities has lost its appeal for me.........
I would much prefer open spaces and places where I can meet ordinary working people and try to understand the way they live........most cities don't offer this for me anymore....
was racking my brain to think of a city I haven't visited which would still excite me....and can't come up with one......
would probably go back to Havana, Rio or somewhere else hot in South America if I was pushed......

I'd like to see Bejing (or whatever it's called now).
Also, I've not been to South Africa...maybe like to see the area. Johannesburg????

There are many places that I want to go and see.....
As I start my round the world trip on the 1st of May many should be seen in the next few years, below is a few in particular:
Munich (oktober fest)
Panpalona, spelling (running of the bulls)
Amsterdam (for a somke of the finest)
Paris (eiffel tower)
Turkey (anzac dawn service)
And many places around Cambodia, Loas, Vietnam etc......
Hopefully all goes well and should be a couple of years before I return home.
Also I am flying solo so I should meet some interesting people on my journey's.
Nathan.

Cheers guys!
At this stage, this is my ROUGH outline. Exactly where I go depends on what type of around-the-world ticket I buy. But Europe is a certainty.
Brazil (Rio) - 2 weeks
Argentina (Buenos Aires) - 2 weeks
San Francisco - 1 week
Vancouver - 1 week
Italy - 12 weeks
Spain, Portugal - 3 weeks
Central Europe (France, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium) - 3 weeks
Northern Europe (some of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden) - 2 weeks
Czech Republic - 2 weeks
Rest of Eastern Europe (Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Hungary) - 3 weeks
Baltics and Greece (Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Greece) - 3 weeks
Russia and Turkey - unsure about this
Thailand - 3 weeks
Phew..............

If I may comment since I've done Europe many times (the only easy thing for us Europeans):
Italy 12 weeks? Are you crazy 2-3 weeks max. Just joking, I imagine you'll be visiting family anyway and I do love Bella Italia!
Spain Portugal 3 weeks ok
Central Europe 3 weeks? Exchange the 12 weeks of Italy with these 3 weeks. No way you can see all these countries in 3 weeks.
Northern Europe (=Nordic Countries) 2 weeks ok - don't forget to go and see the Northern Lights or the midnight sun, depending when you'll be there
Czech Rep 2 weeks (too much, it's only Prague mate)
Latvia Estonia are too far away...
Balkans (not Baltics ) 1 week and Greece 2 weeks. For Greece skip Athens and head to the islands straight away.
Russia is massive. When you say Russia you mean a whole year of your life Go to St Petersburg and Moscow if you can.
Turkey worth seeing if you can cross to the West Coast from the Greek islands. Also see Istanbul and Cappadocia.

Thanks for you feedback enthaiced
Maybe 12 weeks in Italy is too long, but there's a lot to see and I feel comfortable there. I've been to all of those central European countries before, so was just going to visit some of my favourite spots again. But yes, 3 weeks is a bit slim. Wasn't going to Athens - islands are my thing - it just depends what time of year I can make it there.
That's the biggest problem with all this - given it is about 8-9 months. I can't go everywhere in spring/shoulder season. I have to be somewhere in the middle of summer, and somewhere in the cooler months. At this stage, I am looking at Spain/Portugal in winter months (quite mild there) and probably Germany or Italy in summer in August (have family in both places).

Yes Lars, these are countries I have never been to before. Northern Europe would be a completely new experience.
Very interesting differences in culture among the Northern European nations, which I am keen to find out more about. I got most of my education from the old Danish television show "RIGET" (The Kingdom) which I wish there was a part 3 for soon Come on Lars Von Trier!
( The Kingdom (TV miniseries - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) for a rundown - such an incredible series, recommended!!!)
Just frightfully expensive, or else I would like to allocate longer to Nth Europe. I have to make my money stretch over a long period.

Well, as time goes by......I quite fancy opening a bar in Casablanca called 'Denvers' and helping people called Victor Lazlo and his girlfriend Bergman, get a visa to Thailand.
I think it could be the start of a beautiful relationship..........Here's lookin' at you kid!
