favourite hotels/accomodations in thailand ??
and why?
for me the best hotel I have ever stayed in is the Irish Clock ( www.irishclock.com ) in Udon Thani , for room (lovely decor , similar to the chedi on Phuket , good air-con and those big sunflower type showers in the hong nam) , staff friendliness , food (best full english i've ever had and teerak enjoyed the Thai food here) , beer (draught kilkenny @ 125 baht/pint , brought to your room) , prices (850 baht , inc. the breakfasts) , location (2 mins walk to the bars and the main shoping centre).
in Phuket
Paradies Zum Ross Bungalows ( www.phuket-paradies.com ) at Nai Harn/Rawai/Chalong area , great bungalows of a very high quality , German owned and managed , loads of space with living room , bedroom , bathroom , kitchen and terrace , swimming pool , very peaceful location ,

JW Marriott in Phuket is one of my favourites with the right company - nothing to do there but relax and be pampered. Makes a nice 3-4 days break from all the action.

I hesitate between Bel Aire Princess and Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.... Bel Aire Princess is cheaper but Sheraton provided a wider range of amenities in room (i.e.: bath salts). Rooms were large and comfortable in both cases. Staff was very friendly; especially in Bel Aire.

Same same Jonny. Posh hotels don't impress me particularily. Im only there to sleep overnight. Rather spend my cash on better things than a posh bedroom. Nice if you are loaded I guess, but I look for VFM.

Meant to say that the hilton phuket was a great place to bring a girl friend i.e check in with her (room and service nice for a romantic time). That said, the hilton didn't bat an eye when i had to carry a t/g in over my shoulder while i was with my g/f one night. long story.
The hilton in hua hin was very girl friendly as well. I've found the nicer hotels to be cool with this.

Pool is a big thing for me when on holiday though..
If I was purely about budget theres plenty of rooms on Nanai at 500 a night.. 8 - 10k per month.. Some balance of luxury and location is always at play..

Absolute correct...... the same what I think....
..all what you need is a bed..... a shower...and a full refrigerator..

Stayed in the nanai area many times and had nice rooms (one had a pool available also) for 500 bath a night. But each to its own....
