Question TOP TEN BJ's

Sorry the title was to get your attention, BJ =board member jobs.

What are the top ten job opportunities in Thailand for a farang who wants to work in Thailand?

Serious or joking, I don't mind, and is the way smoothed by having a Thai wife?

Has been stated on the board numerous times, being married to a Thai lady DOES NOT entitle you to anything, except a non imm O visa. There are NO easy roads to a work permit in Thailand

Not thinking of entitlement to a work permit, so much as the wife's connections in the community; liaising with those in authority, local knowledge etc. that could help in finding a job/setting up a business.

Setting up a business is easy, establishing a company is easy. Getting a work permit is NOT easy

Have you read any of the previous threads about work permits and getting jobs??

Got to the expat forum and read the sticky there, which lists restricted jobs.

I would say that the vast majority invest into a biz and act as its owner while it is then run either well or not by Thai management and staff...

I know a few expats who trade financial instruments for thier daily bread.. Not an easy buck IMHO but with time and patience it is a skill that can be learnt..

I know lots of oil and or contract workers.. Shift rotation allows for lifestyle in Thailand in off shift times.. Pay is good but the work is hard, unpleasant, in parts of the world that you wouldnt be visiting by choice.

Any kind of skill that can be telecommuted is good.. Of course then yo have to fight off the masses of indian etc educated and hard working people out there who will undercut you.

Property development, sales, etc.. Boom inductry here for the last few years..

Then there is the 1 in 100 who has a genuinely good idea and works it through.. I remember Rick from Simple computers had a ncie idea in providing an offsite SW backup solution for hotels.. no matter what happened thier booking data was protected.. Nice origional idea I thought..

I myself have a couple of ideas that no one else has come up with. If I wasnt so lazy I would implement them..

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Did kind of think it might be the above from my observations. Farang catering to farang with Thai help.
For now I guess I will be just making trips for holidays in Thailand each year and then who knows in the future. Also fancy to volunteer in a relief project post tsunami as long as it's not a covert way of converting Thai's to Christianity which is a rumour I've heard.

The government was saying that volunteers also need a WP, so just be careful with that one.

It aint no rumour about the religious stuff.
