We are around £1 per litre (diesel) so that would make it what? 3 Aussie Dollars?

Just checking back, I researched this not too long ago, and we (UK) pay at least 25% more than all the other EU countries and 48% more than Greece. How anyone makes a haulage business pay in this country I cannot understand.

Bloody hell, and we are complaining about the price down here.
Apparently according to reports, 48% goes in taxes down here

$1.17/litre here. So 39 baht.
There was a piece on the news yesterday that people from here are going to the States to fill up and saving about 25 cents/liter...

Southern Ireland did a strange thing to my mind when they joined the euro. It will be ok while the economy is working and there is high employment, and of course while property prices are rising, but rampant inflation can't possibly last and sooner or later it will go tits up.

I dont know exactly for Sweden but I know it is more than 13 SEK now, so min 65 baht, probably 67-68 baht.
When I read this thread, I feel happy to pay just 26 baht here in Thailand and can afford to use the car/motorbike.

I saw a debate on Swedish TV yesterday, one of the reasons for the high taxes was because government want people to use other kind of energy than oil, to get independent from oil. And also a way to care of the environment. That was a reply to the motorists association who wanted the government to cut the taxes due to the current high oil prices.
I think it is only 30,000 cars in Sweden out of 2-3 million who use alternative fuel.

$52 for a full tank this week for my Jetta.
Gas prices went up 30 cents while I was in LOS.
Now double what they used to be before the price started going up at the start of IRAQ conflict and 9/11.

work is only 10 minutes away. Scuba diving classes and diviung for fun is what puts miles on my car.

Insane? Thats still less than half the amount we pay in the UK. Converted to $US we pay over $7 a gallon (imperial gallon 4.544 litres)
Think yourselves lucky its so little.
£60 ($110US) won't fill mine up fully

North Sea oil costs more to produce and refine.
Higher fuel taxes
and I am sure Dawsey will tell you other reasons.

Quick Google search brought this article.
Quote:
UK Fuel taxes & prices are amongst the highest in Europe and possibly the world. Strange for an oil producer! And that's just the tip of the iceberg, everything goes up as cost of delivery spirals out of control. Read on...
We receive literally hundreds of letters from UK drivers furious about the cost of fuel in Britain so we've come up with an idea that can change the situation. Here's an indication of what consumers in the UK pay (varies almost daily except for the percentage of tax):
Cost per litre of crude oil extraction: 8p
Cost per litre of refining: 2p
Cost per litre to transport to UK: 2p
Cost per litre to transport to pumps: 5p
UK TAX @ 70%: 60-70p!
Gut wrenching total: Fuel now more than 99.9p per Litre - Around the highest in Europe and possibly the world!!!

Not quite right Steve. UK price per litre is just under 1GBP,at todays rates is around 70baht per litre. I think you are confusing a gallon and a litre (x4.544)
Your'e right about one thing though, you ARE lucky paying just 42THB a litre
