i guarantee you, take the girls out of the equation, and no matter how many friends you have met or how much you like the thai people and culture, people on this forum would stop making thailand their only destination, myself included

There are some nice ladies there but the place is a dump. Grab a lady and take her to Boaracay.
No beach, not much of a BM party scene, nothing much going for it other than the ladies but they are definitely there and they speak english so no misunderstandings usually.

Marc, sorry for digging out and replying to an old statement you made (it just happend that this thread came up again and I've seen this only now).
I just want to say that my first 2 visits in Thailand has been together with my dutch ex-girlfriend. I've never been in touch with any TG at that time. Never went to a beer bar or go go. We rather were hiking in Chiang Mai or Island hopping and diving in the South.
So, even leaving out the the girls, Thailand has been my number one destination since. All other countries I've been meanwhile are just checkboxes to be filled-in, like been there seen it. Not Thailand though, never been just a checkbox. Nothing compared to it so far.
Of course now everything is really different. First I fell in love with the country, and now with one of it's daughter, Double Trouble ;-))

I have travelled all over the world, well, never been to south america, But Asia, especially SE Asia, have always been my favorit.
The food, the countries, the people, the weather and the cultures...you have it all. Thailand will always be a favorit of mine...allthough I am planning in the future to do some island hoping in the south pacific...I hear there are some good dives to be had

thats a good perspective to get, since i have only come solo and been involved with the girls fromt he very beginning
I am going through a little different phase at the moment. i really want to go to other places, south america being my next to do list
but i am pulled back to thailand for 2 reasons:
1) my gf until we sort out a visa for her
2)my friends i have met there. to be honest, i wouldnt want to go a year without seeing some of my friends that live and holiday in LOS

4. I think its a beautiful place

the obvious things : beaches, climate, culture, reasonable prices and last but not least the ladies and nightlife.
But one thing that hit me is the general atmospere, aura of this place. When I was back home the first, i noticed nobody was smiling on the streets, everybody just minding their own business with a long face. After my second holiday i noticed the same thing. Phuket is a boost for your own positive thinking.
Here some ilustrations of what i mean:
On my first holiday i rented a motorbike to cruise the island a little bit. This one day a was parking my bike to do a walk on the beach in Karon. All of a sudden across the road an older lady (40ish) stops her motorbike and calls me. I was not even looking at her so i thought she wanted to sell me something. she asks me were i'm from, if i like phuket, and asked me to tell all friends to come to thailand aswell. All this she was asking me from across the road. Then she wished me a good holiday and took of with a big smile on her face.
This other time i played motorbike taxi for a girl from a restaurant were i went a lot (sidenote: whitout sexual intentions, just as a favour). Almost at her place it started raining like hell and we stopped at a 7-11 for shelter. There was this thai guy she knew and we started talking a little bit. After a while he goes in the shop and bought me a plastic jacket (these "use them one time" kinda things). He would not accecpt me to pay for it, he gave it as a favour in return because i was friendly enough to bring the girl home.
the happiness, kindness and positive way of living here rubs of on me and sticks with you; you don't get that in europe anymore. This is not the reason why i came over here, but it's one of the reasons why i will be coming back.
