I have Thai food every single day. The only time we eat something different is the occasional full english breakfast to cure a hangover on a Sunday ;-)

That's another thing I can't get here unless I make it myself. In LOS you can get English breakfast as easily as Thai food - day or night.

Since getting good spices sent from England I can manage passable Thai recipes but the Germans don't care for baked beans so if you find them, they're dear and the only bacon is Danish and very dear. Now I buy the dry beans, cook 'em and make my own sauce and for bacon I use Kassler smoked ham. HP sauce I get from England too, all very complicated and the Germans think I'm eccentric but I can't do without my English breakfast Sunday mornings, it just wouldn't be British. In LOS you can just sit down and order, this place is a gastronomic disaster.

Okay, you got me into the breakfast thing now. While looking if any German Websites exists dedicated to

"How to survive as a Brit in Germany - missing my english breakfast" -well, I couldn't find any, maybe a nice project for you ? ;-)

But I came across Wiki's dedication to breakfasts around the world. Quite impressive the effort they put together: Breakfast - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I still must say I really enjoy Kao Tom in the morning. Finished by putting a raw egg into the hot soup and some magic thai spices.

I thought about that but I didn't think it was relevant to a Thai forum so I just soldier on and suffer without whinging too much. Checked out the Wikipedia ref., not much help is it apart from a nice picture of how it should look? Kao Tom indeed! And costs pennies I suppose. The whingers over there should read this thread and count their blessings.

All this talk about the “British Cuisine” is making me… well.. not really that hungry.

Problem with Thai food though is if you order a dish that’s supposed to be spicy and say “mai pet” (not spicy). Yes, tasteless. But there are still some pretty good non-spicy Thai dishes out there to be had.

As a sidenote: Eating mostly alone now has really decreased the whole dining experience for me. Not talking purely about the social aspect, but more about having more dishes on the table to share. Like a steamed fish with lemon sauce together with a spicy curry dish. And a soup on the side. Not consecutive, individual courses like we’re used to, but more of a buffet (and complementary) style dining. One which can be a real party for the taste buds.

Big English fry up in the morning/afternoon (Nicky's, Googies, Crazy Dave's)
Thai food whenever else I eat, unless I'm drunk on Walking Street & then I eat deep fried frogs & bugs.

first time i come to Los,the food was exiting, good and of course different
from everything that i have ever tasted before.
I tried many various plates of food(not really knowing what i was eating)
It was spicy as hell ,most of it,so i started to ask Thais i was eating with,if this and that, were okay for my scandinavian tounge
2 weeks into my holiday i was kinda getting sure of what to stay away from..
Boy was i wrong..a friend of mine from Norway and 2 BG`s went to a restaurant(of their choise) to have an early evening dinner.
They order many variants of small dishes of whats looked like yummie-food.
Well,i had this plate of ricemixed vegetables and some kind of meat,(still don`t know what the meat was) we were chatting and eating and was enjoying ourselfs, when i see this delicious piece of "meat?" at the side of my plate,it was about 6 cm long and covered by sauce..mmmh ..i put the hole thing in my mouth and chewed away..5 seconds later omg
They start to look at me , i was getting pale, then sweating like a pig, then turning red. I could not speak,my voice was just a whisper..
The idiot (me) had just eaten somekind of spicyflavoared hot chilli
My friends laughed alot when they learned what i did.At first they thought i was having a hartattack
So now i can not eat anything over-spicy
Ps could not speak proporly after 4 hours..
Lesson learned, Norway food expert 555

I like Thai food but I also like all the other international cuisine that are available.

I have a live in Thai girlfriend who does all the cooking.

I sustain myself on a diet of Beatles and cockroaches. It gets the sexual juices flowing.

I spend my time on walking street in Pattaya looking for the perfect Ladyboy
with a big Bratvurst
.

I love thai food and eat heaps of it even had some bugs but the Bratvurst thingy I just dont agree with. Your a dirty mole 555555555555
