Favorite place in LOS
I was trying to find out some information on here about other places in Thailand.... Places that people really liked and why they liked it. There were so many different threads that came back but not a specific thread about why people liked these places so i thought i would see if there were any other board members were intrested in saying where they had been that they really liked (Although i have a feeling Phuket, obviously will come back as number 1) I would be intrested to hear any answers...And if this has been done before i am sorry but also with so many new board members it could be intresting to get there thoughts. As i started this thread perhaps i should go first so here you go
Ayutthaya... I think thats how you spell it anyway... When i went there, i found that walking around the old ruins of the ancient capital was a great experience. You felt a sense of the history as to what had happened and seeing the way it had became ruined was such a shame.. Its deffinatly a place i would love to revisit one time.

I have always liked Ko tau..even tough it has changed alot over the years.
It always strikes me, how quickly I unwind, when checking in at one of the beach resorts around Buddhaview.
I know there are alot of more scenic places in LOS, but this really makes my day, and helps me coupe with another hard working year.
The Food, The people and the slow moving time it all takes place in, great stress reliever.

Patong, even after all this time it still feels like I'm coming home.
More nightlife than you can shake a stick at, tranquility if you want it, the place is safe an relatively clean. I'm a simple guy and Patong meets my needs perfectly.

A place I liked was Koh Chang. It was so little people so it was quiet and really beautiful. Was there during low seasons for 2 years ago. I don't know how it look like now.

Khao Yai
The Khao Yai National Park is one of the most beautiful areas of Thailand covering some 2000 square kilometres about 150 km North East of Bangkok.
The citizens of Khoa Yai have been heavily influenced by Bonanza and The High Chaparral and have to a certain extent recreated California in the heart of Thailand. In between the horses, the wide open ranges, the mountains and the waterfalls you will find some excellent Thai vineyards and some truly fantastic Thai golf courses.
The park has a local climate with low humidity and an ambient temperature of about 76F degrees (25C). When most Thai people are asked about Khao Yai the reply is "good air"!
English is spoken widely in the hotels and resorts and non spicy food as well as the ubiquitous steak and chips are readily available.
Thats my bit for the tourist trade!!

When i came to thailand with my thaifriens , my first step was to chiang mai (their hometown).even i am a type of guy who is more attracted to beaches and a seaview, this place really facinated me.Its a more relaxed place then phuket and the landscape around is great.I stayed there for a week before i made a week in phuket and returned for another week.I met a lot of very nice (thais, expats and tourists) who made me having a great time.I will come another time there for sure

It's obvious from this thread what's so great about Thailand: there are so many different destinations to suit just about anyone. I've spent the last three years doing work that brought me to just about every corner of the country, and I'd be hard-pressed to choose one above the others. Each place is so different it's hard to compare.
So I'll give you one no one's mentioned yet: Koh Lanta. It's a big, quiet island in the south of Krabi province, accessible from the mainland by a short car ferry trip. Good for a quiet holiday with lots of beaches, one decent-sized party beach, great diving nearby and lots of forested hills. Also 90-minute boat ride to Koh Rok for snorkelling in this vast coral field between two small islets.

I agree with Lucky .. i travelled top to bottom for one month last april with my Tirak started at chaing mai via sukothai, bangkok, payatta,ko samul, krabi, koh lanta, phi phi and back to good old patong when I stayed in krabi (Tubaak hotel one the best i stayed in) and Koh lanta it certainly offered for me everything i needed (I scuba) and more.. its my favourite area.

I love patong the most, for me it is the people i am with who make me have a good time, not really the place, i enjoyed patts aswell but if IJ and Yeap had not been there i doubt it would have been much fun.
I tried Udon for a couple of days once, dont think i will be back there anytime soon.

-> Most favorite place in LOS : The airport on arrival
-> Least favorite place in LOS: The airport at departure
Anything anywhere in between does it for me.

After being now 4 times in Thailand and during the first time made a round tour with my (then) family, I think the northern area, as far as landscape is concerned, is the most beautiful
But after my recent trip, I can honestly say I like Pating most. For the whole package. I was lucky to meet a lot of nice people at various venues. But one person in particular... ;-).

You can relax and have a mad time in Patong as well, and I prefer Patong, but that's a matter of taste.
I don't quite agree with the saying you have about taking the Bar out of the girl, my wife is an EX bargirl, and we have now been married for 13 wonderful years, so it doesn't apply to them all.
