Back when I was in party mode probably more than 12 years ago, I would easily do 10K+ a night in NEP. In those days the Crown Group had a VIP card setup where you got 15% discount on your bills. The downside of this was that your spending was tracked through the month, and I was nearly always the number 1 spender, but I guess being there nearly every week or 2 aided in that.

When I came on holiday, I was averaging 10000 Baht a day (around 70000 per week), but now that I live here and am earning a salary, I have to live on 1000 a day

We spent a huge amount on accomodation but a small amount on other things while there, although did rent a car for 50 or so days aswell..there was the odd splurge in some restaurants and shows but for the most part it was fairly low spending until I started going to the bars...it was only every other night tho and id spent about 3000 baht on drinks and a further 2k when had a girl. I could imagine spending a little bit more but not much. 5K a night 12 nights a month is what Ive pre-budgeted for when I go over there to live.

For the food i have learn from a friend, that you can get alot of good soup for 20 Baht.

You can try, dress as a monk, walk around, get free rice

That's quadruple the spend rate going from tourist to local.... Never seen or heard of that before. What's the cause for the increase?

Hello Bigboy, you fly business class?
Other wise you wouldn't have to pay € 1300 for a return ticket. SQ brings you to Phuket for about € 700 right now.

Take care,
Nanook

Where do I book for 700? Thai ticket for November costs now 1100 from Brussels (via FRA), so I think A'dam must be the same. Thai businessclass to Phuket in 2500€. If you fly Singapore in business count 3000€.

Check the SQ website. They offer Amsterdam-Phuket for € 698.00 ex tax in economy class. Go to the site. Go to "change location" and select "The Netherlands" and then go to "local promotions". There you will find quite a few deals for Singapore Airlines destinations and leaving from Amsterdam.
For Phuket you'll fly first to Singapore and then to Phuket by Silk Air, which is SQ's little daughter.

For Phuket, you have to book before oct.31 and fly out between oct.1 and dec.7 or from dec.24 but before mar.31, 2007.

Success.

Captain, I'm sure you can get low cost flights to London so you should consider via London.

Last time I flew out here from London there were loads of Belgians on the flight heading for Pattaya that had flown in early the same day from Brussels.
