Future Scenarios of Phuket Island...time travel to parallel possibilities

This island, Queen of the Andaman---with an ever-growing international population rapidly populating primary and secondary homes separated by Nature’s grand masses of sea and land.

In this excitement--climbing out of that pit wherever it was--we have become part of an ever-changing community with the forces of evolution and change at our fingertips…literally.

So let’s get a fun and creative thread going. Get your Flux Capacitors charged and ready for some time travel! I’ll start with a possible ideal Phuket Island towards the end of my natural biological line. Feel free to jump further ahead, if you can-- to multi-generational kin’s lifelines in your own scenarios whether similar or completely opposite to my own or others to come.

So, here goes :

Utopia 2075

The Last Tuk Tuk mob protests are half-century old history lessons in the hi-tech public records archive accessible in the implanted identity-social chip of every resident---everything from identity number/visa status to education and medical info is stored here...

An educated, yet conscious elite were coerced to take control of their island’s destiny, instigating a cultural revolution that resulted in significant government incentives for sustainable and sufficient infrastructure installment.

Phuket’s three districts have evolved into Zones : One (North) Two (West-South), and Three (East-South) A Mass transit network on par with London, Singapore, and Hong Kong was completed on the island with a central station in each zone.

One --- HKT has evolved and become part of a major modern Air, Land (i.e. train), and Sea Hub-Port. A High Tech Environmentally suistanable-harmonious Industry Park and International Institute hub employs and educates five million of the island’s residents, of which 20 percent live in this zone with the other 80 percent commuting via 24 hour mass transit to the other two zones. Maximum commute time to other zones: Five minutes

Two --- With the economy’s emphasis on the technological and education hub in the north, the Tourism and related industry is only secondary and a bulk of Phuket’s residents no longer depend on it …though it is far from obsolete--- mainly confined to Zone Two and sectors of Zone Three. All citizens are protected from Indonesia's geo-wrath by a sub-aqua/terra artificial barrier integrating the latest geo-tectonic technology and coral cultivation, utilising the cities material wastes and garbage for contstruction of the aqua shield 100 km out

Three --- The modern metropolis of Phuket City as defined by this zone’s boundaries is predominately high-density residential and commercial zoning. Sub-aqua technology has emerged, and when land became tight, Deep Sea Residential sectors provide boarding for 20 percent of the population…and growing. There is not one motorcycle, tuk tuk, or personal car as there are no streets like the old days…though still wide paths full of pedestrians and various civilized action and activity. Cross zone commuters conveniently can access the future version of mass transit super and sub terra.

So anyway, that’s a raw start, feel free to pun off this scenario , or offer a completely different bizarre, realistic scenario for future Utopia (or Hell) Phuket. I’m hoping some inspiration for a sci-fi novella, series, or short story begins to surface—we’ll see how enthusiastic, resourceful and articulate some other BM writers and if any momentum gets going for potential collaborations.

Now barren and empty solely inhabited by old European men in Speedos.
