How important is a pool in your Hotel
Seeing another thread this evening about a particular hotel,I though, yes it sounds good but no way would I ever go there as it hasn't got a swimming pool.
To me its very important, you get back from breakfast/dinner/shops/trip and want to cool down with a swim.I don't want to go to the beach every time so it is one of the first things I look for. Also, after a night at Mai Thai and a thick head,a dip in the pool is great first thing.
How important is a pool for you?

I always go to the same hotel.
Its nice and clean, good staff, and it has a pool which I always convince myself I will use.
I think i used it twice last holiday, and that was one time more than the time before
Next time I will go to somewhere different. As long as the shower/bathroom is nice, then I am happy. A really hot shower when you come in full of drink is great (especially if you are not alone )

I'd say a pool is fairly high on the agenda, last time I stayed at C&N I just used the pool down at the end of Soi Sansabai but it's always good to have one at the hotel outside your room for the before breakfast wakeup dip or late night dip.
More importantly I think location plays more of a role in my choice now and the saff if I know the location and staff are good I'm basically a happy camper.

My first three tours I only had a pool at the hotel I stayed at in BKK on tours 2 and 3. I used that pool a total of 1 time.
But this past winter, the hotel I stayed at had a really beautiful pool, and I found myself using it often for laps in the afternoon, and the occasional dip with my tirak after coming back from the bars.
Next to massages and girls(in that order), swimming was the most enjoyable activity on my holiday.

Nope. Not important to me as I can't swim anyway. One of the reasons I like the C&N

I'm not so keen on pools any more since I picked up an ear infection a couple of years ago at the Rennaissance in Ochos Rios; rather use the ocean and take my chance with the sharks/sewage outfalls
Cheers,
K.

Yeah a pool always helps to promote recovery from the dreaded changover, and when you walk back from the massage parlour on a hot afternoon.

During high season, the pool is not so important, when you are staying on the beach, but in monsoon time, I like a big pool in the hotel area, because the sea is sometime too dangerous.
Sunset Resort has a nice pool in the shadow, good for the first days after arriving in the hot sun of LOS

For me a pool is a must, especially in low season when sea is too rough/dangerous.
Or go for the full blown luxury of a tub right outside your room, like the Devaana has.

Absolutely critical! If the hotel doesn't have a pool, I wouldn't consider staying there. As some of you have mentioned, it is my hangover remedy as well. Pool bar is a VERY nice bonus as well. Cause the second best hangover remedy is to start drinking again!

Did you see that pool in the video of the wild parties at Valhalla? Now that is what I call a real pool bar! Awesome! Check it out on the Wet Willy's thread!

Out of the hotels I ever stayed in that had a pool (Which was most), I only used one of them and that was in cyprus, So it does not really matter to me either way, The main reason is because I swim like an anchor And I rarely get hangovers on holidays, I think its due to the heat and I also drink gallons of water which do help.

Not high on my agenda but you do tend to miss it if you don't have one.
Only used the pool in the Sandy Spring once in May, ended up fcuking in there which is why I didn't use it again

I used to find a hotel pool very important. But I found out that with the lifestyle I practise in Los I very seldom use it anyway. Last trip 0 times. Coming home in the morning, sleeping till 3pm, then breakfast till 4pm, after this a nice quiete bar in Kata till 9pm and then off to Patong.Next day same same......
No time for the pool.

A pool is essential for me. I love my midnight dips, a splash in the morning to clear the cobwebs. Plus I just like to loiter in the shallow end with my latest BG! Our neighbour has a pool next door to us here in Baghdad and unfortunately it is 'off-limits' to us. If I stand on tip-toe and peer over the sandbags I can just see it. Empty, clear, blue, cool, bubbling filter, so so inviting!! AAAAAAArrrgh! Plus, if I don't keep my skin cool like a Hippopotamus, my skin peels like a camel spider! Yep, a pool is a definate 'Must Have' for me.
