Thailand a bargain for Britons - Survey
Thailand, recovering from the December 26 tsunami, offers some of the best-value prices for British tourists, suggests a global cost-of-travel survey.
A basket of 13 items -- including drinks, camera film and meals -- cost 65.45 pounds (97 euros, 124 dollars) in Thailand, compared to 154.60 pounds in Norway , the most expensive destination.
The second cheapest country was South Africa , while the best-value European destination was Italy. The most expensive European country for travelling Britons was Ireland .
"Overall, the cost in Italy was virtually half that in Ireland for the same 13 items," said Brendan Walsh, senior vice president for American Express foreign exchange services, which conducted the survey.

I had it on good authority (my brother) that beer was 4.00 (sterling, none of your euros here thanks) a pint in Norway four or five years ago and immediately struck it from my list.
Ireland is on my list, but nowhere near the top. I guess we like a bargain because it's so expensive being at home.

Big Mac scale
Have you heard about Big Mac Scale ?
It's a way to compare time you have to work to be able to buy one Big Mac.
In some countries, only a few minutes, in others a few hours, although the price fr the Big mac is rather adapted.

I think they mean that Norway is the most expensive in Europe & Ireland is the most expensive member state of the EU. I don't think Norway is part of the EU... ????
10 euro for 20 cigs is criminal = 25 baht a cigarette!!!! 335 baht a beer !!!
