I read somewhere that if you decide to marry a tg, you marry the whole fcuking family......well l have never met my tillac's parents.....but her uncle is another story.

He:

a) Drives cabs when ne needs some $$$...only during the day coz he has bad eyesight !
b) Spent an hour on the phone to tillac (July05) bad mouthing me, after she told him l had been butterflying in Patong for 2 weeks.....never thought for 1 minute she would tell any of her family
c) stiched me up (taxi fare) within an hour of meeting me
d) has a 14 yo daughter who he wants me to find a husband for (l presume he means when she turns 18....but l never asked)
e) plays the lucky number (Thai Lottery) to the tune of 10,000 - 20,000 each time it comes around
f) pawn's whitegoods and any other possessions he has to play the lucky number
g) Won 800,000 baht at the lucky number.....and blew it all in 6 months.
h) lives in the dirtiest house in Bkk...according to tillac
i) Want's me to go to Bkk horse racing with me
j) was a father for the first time at 43 and is now divorced, 65 and has 3 kids still at home
k) Rang tillac every day for the first week to make sure l never went ST with anyone
l) Wants to marry my mother.....so tillac said when l joked with her to ask him.
m) does my head in.
m) Wants to visit Oz on a Tourist Visa

Mav are you quite sure that he is her uncle? That does not sound inviting for me to marry with a thai. Wonder what the guys with thai wifes have to say about this? I would love to hear their stories good or bad.

In my case the aunties, grannies, cousins and uncles are ok, most of them have considerably more funds than me (wouldn't be too hard though), except for one who has never asked for anything and is always really chuffed when I give him a couple of pouches of rolling baccy. Unfortunately the more immediate family are a little different. The demands are usually routed via mother-in-law so it is a bit difficult to establish the origin (ie, her or father-in-law). Last year they finished building a 4 bedroomed house on the funds the wife sent over - we went for the blessing (nine monks) and not only ended up paying for the party but most of the furnishings also. More recent demands have been for money for granny when she went to hospital (no prob, v.nice lady, never asked for a bean and looked after my Mrs. for years when she was younger) - granny however never saw a red cent/plug nickel. Then it was 'you must sponsor your sister to go to UK to find rich husband' - forget it. Lastly it was 'we want granny to live near us so need to buy more land, please send money' - wife smelt a rat, said she might be able to send some but only directly to the seller of the land, it has been remarkably quiet since then. Probably too quiet - I expect something is brewing! (at least the wife gets v.fcuked off these days too!).

Every family has that one uncle/relative you wish would go away.

My mom's cousin is this gay drug addict gambler. Every time my mom would help him out with $$$ and support it would never be enough and he'd end up finding a way of screwing her. I never understood why she kept helping him out...I guess with traditional Asians, family blood runs thick.

her mom, who i liked, despite the enormous pressure she put on my tg
took me 2 years, but i got her to not bow down to everything her family says

yep..feel the same. My Thai wife has a daughter that requires at least 6000 Baht a month to take care of and her mom never asks for money, but somehow it seems like she is always finding excuses to give money to the family. Her father has a resturant and doesnt ask for anything. But overall it is pretty good. My wife seems to need all the money for one reason or another. Her shoe collection would rival that of Emalda Marcos.

if i had my gf or wife stayign with me and she wasnt working, id give her a set amount every month, and she could do with it how she pleases. would be interesting to see how much they would take from their cut to give to family

One of my ex girlfriends was half marocco. She had 6 uncles (the marocco side) that where all criminals. There was always at least one of them in jail. They kind of circulated. I am glad i am out of that family hehe.

Well l have dug this thread as uncle has been active of late.

My friends sister had a chap from the UK who she met via the internet arrive to Bkk last week.....well she spent a few days with him and well she must not have liked him that much because she has dashed off to Udon Thaini for a while.....probably a week or so.

Anyway our UK gent is a bit short on funds, and is not too keen having to find a local lass who can keep him company as he fears it may cost him more than 1000 baht a day.......so Uncle, bless his heart, has offered his assistance (for a 2000 baht fee) to locate a willing personal assistant to hang with Mr UK Gent who wants to become a English Teacher in Bkk for at least a year.

So when l ask my friend.."your sister no like man?"...."50/50, maybe she see man again when she come back".....so in the meantime Uncle plays pimp to keep his niece's new friend happy whilst she is away for a short time......great country innit.

lucky with my wifes family it seems that money is never discussed with me.
wifes father seems to take the line, that he provides for his family not his son in laws.

eg wifes farewell party the money came only from his pocket.

i can understand to some extant about "leeches" in the family, but i am glad it does not seem that way in the wifes family.

the wifes cousin has 3 girls in tow, that she has been hired to find a farang husband for (payment is % of sin sot).
the udon is a boom place for thai/farang marriages.

l actually think it's quite hiliarious that he making 2000 baht from Mr Uk, given a week ago Mr UK was hopefully going to marry the niece & become a member of the family....his niece and the Mr UK had been chatting online for some time.
