Thai girl in sweden with 2 year visa
my thai gf is now in sweden. she was there feb till april 2005 (3 month) on a tourist visa. when she returned, she got a visa for 2 years for stay and work. she tries to work there now in a home for old people, she told me, before she left thailand end of december. i have seen the visa in her passport, and it is really a 2 year unrestricted visa for stay and work in sweden.
i am not too curious, since normally thai girlfriends give you not too much information about themselves, except you know it already and they have to explain.
so my question is
has anybody experience with swedish visa law ?
is it possible, that a thai woman gets a 2 year stay visa after a 3 month tourist visa? she told me she has a thai friend (woman) staying in sweden, who is working with old people there. She stayed only with her (and her husband) and had no boyfriend in sweden last time. From the financial aspect, just let me tell you that i paid the ticket for her, so she didn´t need some swedish bf for this.
the whole story looks a bit too easy for me. i do not want to argue with her about her stories, but it seems strange to me, that she is incapable to make a short phone call or sms to me, since she arrived in sweden nearly 8 weeks ago.
nonetheless i would like to gather some information about her stay in sweden, before i see her again. she always wants to be smart, but i want to be smarter than her.

Sounds like a marriage visa.. I am not sure of the schengen way but I know that even married they get a trial period (2 years) that they have to prove they still live together and are a real couple and it gets extended.. After about 5 years she has full residency rights and can get a passport also..
It is possible that her friend perhaps made some application to employ her due a (false) special skill that could not be found locally.. I think in this case the employer can try for a long term visa but I have never seen one..
The lack of phone call or sms speaks volumes to me..

Have just read through all of your earlier thread about her "jail time" , and am wondering if you are really that "blinkered" that you need others to answer your question.
She has already lied to you about so many things, and yet you still come back for more. Her time in "Australia" , getting arrested at the airport (still don't think she told the truth about that). Then it turns out she was in Sweden for 3 months.
Quote:
|
By the way, she was not in Australia, but in Stockholm for three month.
|
You never told us any details about that , what was she doing there , how did she get a tourist visa , where she got the money for her trip etc.
Quote:
|
She told me, she gets 15 AUD per hour, will work ten hours per day,
|
Quote:
|
But she can tell, that her thai friend from the restaurant was giving it to her for investment in thailand
|
As you eventually found out ,she never worked in Australia, so it seems she had her lies all worked out to fit her story.
Maybe I am being cynical but her whole story stinks , to me the most obvious scenario is that she has another BF/sponsor living in Stockholm. Her "visit" last year (3 months) , was a trial period and now she is back for 2 years. Don't know anything about Swedish visas system but as has been said,

Sound to me as though you have been played for a fool , and already paid out a fair bit of cash(including money for unnecessary P.I), so perhaps it's time to face reality and accept that she is not the one for you. How many more lies are there going to be, it's OK to think you are being smart but it seems to me that she has you wrapped round her little finger and you take it all because , and I quote " she always wants to be smart, but i want to be smarter than her".
PS I hope I am wrong , and I am not having a go at you , but just offering an "outsiders" viewpoint.

I think in most cases if you start to suspect something is wrong then your feeling is most of the time right. If it smells like fish , most of the time it is fish
good luck

i just got a sms from her today, it showed the number of her thai phone...
More to come
LivingLos,
the probability is very high, that she has a boyfriend in Sweden, but i don´t mind. It just keeps me curious.
On the other hand, it think a family visa would be marked. I had a girl from brazil some years ago in germany, and her visa was clearly marked for 'Familienzusammenführung'. And she was not allowed to work either after marriage or a 5 year stay in Germany.
So i was astonished, how easy she got the working permit. I was reading the visa carefully. It was swedish, but for a german fully understandable. I could find no hint or exclusion. Think she applied really for work with elder people. You can get a working permit for this kind of work in Switzerland too, since it is hard work and not so well paid.

Not hard to get a visa here for 3 months - Its called Family and friends visa. 90 days to start with and after that you can extend for another 90 days. During that time you can also apply for a residency permit which also allows you to work. Residency permit requires interviews at the swedish immigration or at the Swedish embassy in Bangkok. You can apply for residency permit while on the friends and family visa. However the chances to get a residency permit alone as an uneducated thai girl are probably pretty slim. Chances are probably 20x better if she applies together with a Swedish intended spouse or husband. And even if she gets the residency permit, the first time she only get for 6 months i thought.

jimholio, thank you for your reply, think she takes any chances she can get. Her main purpose is, to get a rewarding job, so she can lookup for her old age and her sisters too. When she sees a opportunity, she will take it. She has a very good and diplomatic behaviour, and is doing a good job, has property in thailand and several trips to foreign countries, so an audit at the embassy will give her a visa for sure.
She wants to save every penny for her return to thailand, her understanding of internet is very low, but there are always ways to keep a contact alive with the help of friends.
So lets wait and see...

Am currently staying in Thailand and just got her on phone yesterday. She is still using her thai sim card (expensive for roaming, i think) and attending a language course. This is required before she can apply for a job. She was very homesick and wants to return to thailand as soon as possible.
Seems that roaming thai SIM cards can not allways be reached from outside the AIS network.
By the way, what is the price for a Swedish prepaid SMS card. Where to buy ?
Thank you.

Most thai use sim-card that u have to fill up again (buy more time) and these card u can not use in Europe. If she has one of these card (1 2 call) she is still in asia not europe

Wrong, Dtac for example works with roaming pretty much all over the world. Have a look at this list.
I dont think it matters if you have a post paid or pre paid card.

if you want to use a thai card outside thailand you need a normal billed card and not a scrats card and even then you need to get the company to open it for use out side thailand, and they most likely want some money deposit before they do this.

Roaming on a Thai sim costs 1800 baht per month, and cannot be used on a prepaid. I dont think any carrier lets prepaids be used for roaming.

You can roam on prepaid.. you just have to call customer service and have them turn it on..
Though it costs a bomb and a prepaid card would be well out of money fast..
My money is shes in Thailand shacked up.. Keeping you 'on ice' just in case..

If she lives in Gothenburg (Göteborg) I can check with my exgirlfriend about the "working with old people" job since she can check the list of people (mostly women) working at those kinda homes. At least in the Gothenburg area... And I'm not sure thou but I think to do that kind of work you need to speak swedish at least alittle coz it involves alot more than just petting the old people...
Let me know if I can help you out here.

am back from Thailand now and she called me on my mobile phone today, from a public phone. will ask her next time where she is living..
i told her to get the swedish language certificate first, after this she gets some tuition money from the swedish government for nursery class, as far as she told me. I asked her to give me a swedish landline number, where i can call her back. have to lookup her a bit.
of course she asked me, if i had another gf, when i was in thailand.
to thaikender:
before i went back, i enabled roaming on my 1-2-go SIM cards via the hotline. tried it in germany. can check my balance for free and call somebody.
