It's easy to keep them happy.....
Today was a beautiful Autumn day in Sydney.
Nice day for a ride on the motor bike I thought.
After an invigorating ride through the Royal National Park I found myself at a little waterside cafe in a township called Bundeena. The cafe looked out over the waters of Port Hacking.
I was reading the paper and sipping on a cappucino when my mobile went off.
Me: Hello.
Voice at the other end: Good morning honey. How are you?
Me: I'm fine xxx. How are you.
Thai g/f: Not good. Have headache and little bit tired but I ok. ?????
Me: Maybe you work too much. (Feeble attempt at a joke).
Thai g/f (Launches straight into speil): Honey, family want me to come home for Songkran. I not want go but they say they want me go.
Me: OK, when are you going?
Thai g/f: Tomorrow but I no want go in bus. I not feel too good.
Me: OK, how do you want to go?
Thai g/f: I think it better I go in plane.
Me: Can you get a flight? Maybe all the planes are full.
Thai g/f: No ploblem, I already buy ticket on internet, use visa card.
Me: I am glad to hear that you managed to get a ticket ok.
Thai g/f: HONEY, what you think, you can send money for ticket.
Me (I couldn't draw it out any longer): OK, I'll send a bit extra for spending but don't give any to your family.
Thai g/f: No ploblem, I tell them I have many expense and I not have much money.
Me: Ok, have a good trip. I'll transfer the money in a couple of hours. At the moment I ride motor cycle.
Thai g/f (Who has spent more time in hospital from various car/motor bike crashes than every one I know): Honey, you be careful ride motor bike. I call you tomorrow.
Me: OK bye bye.
Thai g/f (sexy low voice): byyyyeee.
2 hours later I transfer the money and send an SMS. 5 minutes later the money has been taken out of the account.
Then I get an SMS. I love you xxxx.
See..... it's easy to keep them happy and in love with you.

5 5 5 I always say that too...... but it's a waste of time.... I look in her eyes for the tell tale body language.... and can see a quick flash of her Mae face appears in her pupils ....
Just got to accept that the TG comes as a family package... unless u can find an orphan as LIL says
BTW what did she ask for the flight.... should be about 2K...maybe an extra 1k for 'passport' 5 5 5 ..... the bus about 300 to 500 depending on the ViP seats. I would not have sent any extra.....

Hi H3X,
I have known my t/g for nearly 2 years now. We have a business together and I don't really worry about being "ripped off" with this type of request. I understand that it is a package deal and I know her mother, her son, and her family well.
I go to Phuket every 3 months .
I know what a return flight to BK costs but I love to "draw teeth" as the yanks say. However, in the end I roll over, but I like to make her work for it.
I think she can get a one way to Bangkok for about 1300 baht on Thai.
However, in this case she is taking the plane all the way to her home town in Buriram.

LOL I have a business with my TGF as well ... we formed an I.T. consulting company and called it 'Send IT & Spend IT Co. Ltd '
joking apart.... I did meet the GF Father in Chamni in March...... I have a few stories about that trip..... including a real life story about a dead buffalo..... but not yet.
TGF's.... jeez i'm having so much fun learning their mysterious ways..... and I thought trying to understand 'women' in general was difficult..... but certainly Thais are more fun
... so may the fun continue

Hmm do you have instant bank transfer between Australia / Thailand? It takes 7-10 days to transfer from a Swedish bank, to a Thai bank.

He maybe has given her an extra card from his bank, connected to his account. Then she can take out money as soon he put in the money there...

Yes, that is basically what I did. I set up a separate account at my bank in my name then I gave the debit/atm card to my g/f.
This way she only has access to the 1 account and I can transfer the money into it via internet banking.
Each withdrawal costs her $5 AU which is pretty good and she gets the conversion rate $AU to Thai Baht at her end which is also pretty good.

Hi Mik72,
Currently I am on my "L" as I haven't ridden a bike for over 30 years. I bought a Suzuki VL250 Intruder as my learner bike but after I get my unrestricted licence in 2 weeks I am going to trade it in for a Yamaha ha ha V Star 1100. I had forgotten how much fun riding a bike was. I hope to do a bit of touring and I have already bought all my compact fishing gear. Next I plan to buy some camping gear and go away down the South Coast for a few days at a time as I live in the Sutherland Shire. Life's not all about Thai women!!!!

Sounds like a good plan....I did similar a few years ago but North to Coffs on the bike...not camping but had all the fishing gear on the gear sack rack. V Star is a much more comfortable choice tho as by Newcastle my wrists and back had had it....ended up deciding the faster I went the less I would have to endure. Part of why I no longer have a bike...no self control and found myself on the high side of 200kmh too often :-/
My next bike will be a nice GS BMW or a similar Japanese clone for comfort =)

And what does it cost? I guess more than 5 Au $
I could of course be wrong, but last time I sent money with the Western Union in 2004 it was not cheap.

If you send from Sweden it takes 10 minutes before the person in the other end can receive it

Western Union is the go.
Well I used to send my TGF money via a web IMT(international money transfer)...and it cost me $22 Aus for each transaction - only problem is that the was a 3 days turnaround and her bank would take their cut.
But with WU you do get charged a higher fee $35 Aus but its only 5 min and there is no other deductions on the other end.
By the way WU had better exchange rates also...
Funny thing is I wont be sending her any money soon....just flew into Sydney this morning...she is asleep in the bedroom..totally exhausted by her 1st O/S trip...

Congrats to you!
I will always remember her first day in Norway, a great experience.
About the money-transfer; I think I will try the same as senor123. Give her mother an ATM-card and let her withdraw what's in the account. My wife pay's about 3.000 Baht to the bank every time she send her money.
BTW, what about your girl Robo, she doesn't have a family who need's money?

Its all good
Thanks Frode...
Yeah...Im stuck with sending some money once every month to her family. We ensured her mother that we would do this without fail. The bright side is thats its a lot less than I was sending my GF...then again I will have to support my GF here and she only seems to be familiar with brands like DIOR,DOLCE & GABBANA and any other overpriced fashion house ...but what the hell...it makes her happy...and I have the money right now..
Its only day 2 ..but she has slotted right in.I think the fact there is a huge Thai community here in sydney helps heaps...
Cheers....

And I guess you are happy too.
My girl has been in Norway for one year soon, and she has found herself a few thaifriends here. But be careful about what ideas they can put into her head. Some of them are not in farang-land because they want a future there, like one of her friends who told her that is would be smart to get me to invest in land in Thailand, because if something bad happend to me and her then she had something to come back to, and her family would be proud if they could tell neighbour's and friends how much land they own. And they can also be nasty to each other, especially if they found out that one of the others has a "Cheap Charlie" husband.
"Why do stay with him, he is not good for you. If I have husband like this, I go back to Thailand, for sure!"
Good luck for you and your TG!

Thats the TBG 'superiority complex' again...... they know now't and have sweet FA back in Isaan... yet think its their right to hook a host that can support them in a life style they can demand .....the richest farang available .....a bit like ....hmmm ... parasites ???
Yes its easy to keep them velly happy... just give them all your money
BTW , talking of land...on the last trip I thought i was being set up as a mark.... Mae said (via GF) that some 18 Rai of land was for sale for a discount .. as that family wanted cash urgently.... i just laughed, what the fook would i do with some hills in isaan ?.... they kept insisiting it was a good deal and i'd make an extra 100k as 'hot money come back quickly'.....but I still refused... 2 days later Mae was talking on the moby.... when she finished GF told me ... 'too late tilak land sold for X baht' .... which turned out to be the price they said to me + 100k on top...... so now i'm waiting for a similar tale the next time i'm in Loei.
Then i'm selling up and getting the f*ck outta there....... amazingly this weekend my MLC is ended and I can now 'see myself' in the mirror again ....

I have a similar story;
For some weeks ago her mother asked if we wanted to buy some land by the river, near her house in Kalasin.
"Very good price, but have to be quick!"
I asked my wife why we should buy this land near that dirty river in Kalasin, or some where else in Issan for that matter. She already has a house back home, and I am for sure not going to build a new one on this land.
"Very good for my mum to have this land, then everybody can see we do good."
Well, I don't need anybody to see how good we are doing, but you have your own money and you are welcome to buy all land in Issan as long as I don't have to hear about it.
She has not talked about the land since that day.
