got the girl,uk visa and a big big smile..

hi guys....

hope this is in the right section.just bit of info maybe useful to someone out there..arrived back in thailand april 9th to be greeted by the gf at the airport.we headed staright for the hotel the grand inn near the nana hotel....the hotel is priced the same as the nana (1200 baht per night) but i think the rooms are superior....(although i think everyone should experience the nana once as its a legend in its own rights).basically we ate slept for a little while and tested the springs out on the bed and went thru some paperwork for the dreaded embassy visit for the visa...

i met the gf last year(april) while visiting pattaya at a cabaret show where she was working as a dancer..did some asking about to see if there was a boyfriend at all and then tried to get her attention so i could speak to her.needless to say i came back to thailand in june for 3 weeks, august for 3 weeks and the whole of november were we spoke about her coming to the uk to spend time with me,thats were the planning started to get the visa.
i downloaded the visa forms from the embassy site i kept the original one for me and filled one in for her which my friend delivered to her in january while he was visiting his gf family.this i thought was a good idea so she could see the forms and learn the info and things on them that she may be asked about.i also told her small things which again i thought maybe be useful my job,the company name i worked for,my fathers mothers and my childrens names.

the second day we were up at 5 and stood outside the embassy for 6.00am and the que had already started..by 7.00am we had 12 people in front of us and 81 behind us.the doors opened at 7.30 and in she went i had to wait outside.sat watching the world go by she came back out at 9.00am and said they told her to go back at 13.00 for an interview.we were back there at 13.00 and off she went back in.at 13.25 she reappears and looks upset but as she walks up to me she had the biggest smile on her face and says i was trying to look sad but i could'nt do it......she was given a 6 month visa.she was asked 4 questions
1.why do you want to go to england
2.what is your boyfriends job
3.does he have children....she said yes and told them there names and said she had spoken to them on the phone and had a small photo of them in her purse which she showed them.
4.does she have a job in thailand...she said no because i was supporting her and what i sent every month was double what she was earning and that i did'nt see the point of her working so she had given up work and returned home...the truth is her boss wanted me to give him 12,000 baht for a letter for her to say she had a job to return to...i was'nt prepared to pay this, and i thought if she said she had a job but no letter this would maybe cause problems..so easier to say not working.

someone told me they have to have a job to go back to that is not true... also they have to have so much money in the bank again not true... and they have to own land also not true don't get me wrong it may help but "each case is on merits"and thats from the embassy staff....she had with her bank books they never looked at them.

i prepared a file with the following

a sponsorship letter
visa application
letter from my boss to prove employment
6 months wage slips
6 months bank statements
tenancy agreement
photocopy of my passport to prove that i had been to thailand before and that i had not bought her off the web.(i got this authenticated at a solicitors in the uk)
phone bills and phone card to prove contact
over 70 emails right back to the first time that we met to prove the relationship was advancing
birthday cards and valentine cards from me to her and her to me(also i put in the envelopes to prove postage both ways and to prove these cards were not written the day before in a hotel room somewhere).
western union slips to prove i was sending money to support her
photos of places we had visited together in thailand.
copies of her birth certificate and family certificates translated into english

i hope i hav'nt bored any of you too much and if there's any questions on the visa stuff that i can help with i will try...i think maybe sending the info out to her so she could learn what may be asked so she knew what to reply may have helped in some small way

one funny thing when we came to england we got a takeaway the first night fish and chips (do i know how to spoil them....hehehe) when i put the pots in the dishwasher she asked why i was putting the dirty plates back into the cupboard without washing them.......made me smile...

its rained for the past 5 days in england i used to be really pissed off going home soaked after working ......now i open the door and i get greeted by a smile and i am one happy man.....

i think i have found a diamond amongst the rough not once have i had the sick buffalo story and she is genuinely happy to be here in england with me.

Well, it certainly seems that you have done the groundwork to get the visa. Congratulations, hopefully she won't find the summer in England too cold

What a load of crap you come out with , your chances are the same no matter what the BG's previous occupation was. If you had read shagfest's post , you would see that at the interview she said she was not working (which I'm sure is what most people would say).

Shagfest , thanks for all the info , I'm sure it will be really useful for others in the same situation.

What type of Visa did you apply for? To get to the US ther are Student,Tourist,Fianci, etc. I don't know if the UK is the same.
And great story by the way, It sounds like you will be very happy.

Except that to get a tourist-visa for a tg to the US is very difficult, if not impossible. That's why guy's from the states go for the fiancee-visa, easier to get, at least if you are in a relationship with the girl.

But of course, I could be wrong, but I don't think so.
