getting closer to your thai girl

I've just returned last week to Sydney with my TG after spending 3 weeks with her over there, now i feel like sharing a few opinions. Well i went to Thai mid july and spent my first week with her and her family up in the nong khai area which was a real eye opener for me. Just how cheap everything is and how these people live their day to day lives is a spinout.Some of the area can be quite beautiful, all the lakes and rice paddies and the mekong river when the sun is setting. I have been to thailand six times now with majority of my time spent in patong with my girl across all periods of the year and have seen quite a bit, but nothing like up in isaan. Anyway i have spent quite a bit of time with my tg over there and have grown pretty fond of her, i can feel a bond which i have not had with over girls, so i thought f..k it i will bring her home with me and see how it goes despite all our differences in culture and beliefs etc.I honestly think it can work, she is not asking for too much in sponsorship etc, as long as it does not get out of hand there should be no problems in that dept.What i want to say is having her here with me is great, you can really see what they are like when they are away from the circus. Just doing the simple things with her and friends etc really brings you closer.F..k they can cook good food and dont mind doing a bit of housework when you are at work even if you do not ask them(some may think they just do this to justify their sponsor), but thats bull, i sincerely think she just wants to help me out as she can see how hard some farangs work for all their baht, and how much of their time it takes to get it. My girl is really finding it hard to acclimatise to the Oz winter, i think another week or so and she will be ok.Anyway i have too much in my head right now and cannot sort it all out to make sense in this thread so that will do for now.

ps: Anyone in Oz who wants any help with getting a tg a visa please feel free to ask me as i have read alot about people that have had trouble and are consulting those agents that charge big money for filling out an english form and dragging their behinds up 34 floors at the cc tower in bangkok to deliver it, i got quoted 19000 baht!, f..k that, did it myself no prob

A very nice post! Thank you for sharing. I'm right now waiting for my GF to come visit me here in the cold Denmark. But how is it really going with the cultural differences? How good is she at English? And how long will she stay with you this time?

Does she have some other Thai friends she can visit and do stuff with whilst you are at work......plenty of Thais in the Newtown area....somertimes helps with settling in......pretty boring sitting at home alone all day

just finished and put in the spouse visa application for oz.
the only annoying part was getting my letter approved for marriage in thailand approved at ministry for foreign affairs. 800 baht for express approval. but the waiting time about 2 hours was used for final checking of other visa paperwork.

recieved crazy quotes for agencies to perform this work, but you dont need them. just prepare your forms correctly gather the correct evidence and just sit back and wait.

spoke to a girl at the oz visa application centre and she said my wife would qualify under the Tourist/Working visa, when she completed her uni degree.
thais have never been eligible for this before, due to the skills shortage in oz it has been opened to them.
so if your gf is uni qualified and has some steady english skills perhaps this is a better option than other visa types due to approval times

Just to answer a few questions: My girls english is very good so there are no communication problems.It is a bit daunting at first going out in public with all the sniggering and funny looks from others but if that worried me i would never of brought her over in the first place. I think she is settling in quite well and she will be with me until mid october then she will go back. The good thing with the visa i got her it is valid for 12 months and she can visit many times in those 12 months as long as she does not stay longer than 3 months per visit. So we will see how it goes, and if all is well in Oct, she will be coming back again in Dec after she spends some time with her family and we will make the next move later in regards to visa extension etc. A good thing for my girl is i have a friend in Sydney who travels to thai with me and is in an identical situation as me.This is perfect because my friends tg is funnily enough my girls friend from patong(what are the odds ), so she immediately has a good friend to meet up with and talk with to break up the boredom. This is a huge change she is going through now with slowing down so much away from the circus, only time will tell if she and me can handle it, i will let you all know how it pans out in the near future

I come to Oz on a 4 year business visa. Got my girlfriend/soon to be wife in on a 6 month tourist visa which does not allow her to leave in that time or work, but she can study for up too 4 weeks.

My intention will be too marry her here and get her on my visa, then when I apply for permant residence we both get it.
