Hello all, first time user here. What are the advantages of marrying a Thai girl? and I mean in relation to living/working/buying land etc in Thailand. Also does having children (born inThailand) with your Thai wife change anything. I would appreciate some views and answers.

I guess very few here have that experience.

I am not married but I think one big advantage is that they are taking care of their husbands pretty well. Other advantages may be the same as women in other countries.

You can also apply for NON-O visa if you have a Thai wife, maybe a solution for those who live here on tourists visas.

As far as i know: No advantages.

So it doesn't help you get any special work permission? What is a NON O Visa?

If you are looking for Thai citizenship privileges there is almost no difference except for the NON-O visa. A one year visa you can obtain if you are married to a Thai and show/deposit 400,000 baht in local bank account.

But you still have no rights to live here, work or buy house or land in your name.

advantages...if you choose well a great wife.

Nicke's answers pretty much sum up the rest......I have a one year visa and never have to do any sort of visa run, though that is more as a result of my job than my marriage.
