paided $3.70 so a bit over 5/2
she has been retired from racing
foal would be worth heaps but guess owner would keep any offspring
not our greatest horse ever (phar lap )but, dont think any horse will ever win 3 melbourne cups again and shes a mare.
you should have backed her half irish
father Desert Song(ire)

Just got back from the track.....done me ar$e.......was good to see her win her 3rd Melbourne Cup.....have witnessed all 3....beautifully ridden by Glen Boss again.
I backed her the past 2 years, but thought the weight might jut see her short this time.....l was wrong.

A Wonderful Race Mare
The interesting thing about Makybe Diva(GB) is that she was born and raised in England as the suffix after her name indicates. Her owner even tried to sell her here at Tattersalls Sales in Newmarket but was unable to get his price so he shipped her to Australia.
A question now for the Aussie board members. I can think of five winners of the Melbourne Cup in the last 25 years who were born and then raced in Europe...Name Them

Nearly Well Done Aussie Dollar
The other two were At Talaq & Jeune and interestingly enough both owned by the same Arab, Shekih Hamdan al Maktoum.
Both were decent horses over her with At Talaq being placed in the Derby then winning the Grand Prix de Paris.
Jeune was just below top class but he won the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot as well as half a dozen other valuable stakes races.
