Excellent News...After a string of near misses Australia have finaly bridged a 30 odd year gap to qualify for the Worlds Greatest Sports Fixture.
Well done Aussie, Let's hope you and England meet at some stage.

Thats only because you guys are not really good at it

Well until now that is, I think Austrailia will do well in this World Cup and I bet it will explode over there, Its the same in the USA because they are not winning, But if they ever do really well or win a World Cup then I will think it will bring all kinds of kids into the sports, At the moment its only middle class Americans who play football or soccer as they call it, But that will change if they have a really good run....

PS: Talking about America, Liverpool FC are opening up Academys all over America now, 20+ has been given the go-ahead and will be the first club to really tap into the American market, And hopefully we will reap the rewards

Yes a great night for football (Most Australians call it soccer) in Australia.....given the tragic slip up in 1997 when Terry Venables was in charge it was good to see some luck going our way.....now we await the groupings.....hmmmm England WOULD be interesting.

It was a great result for Australia as the game here needed a boost in order to move foreward as there are so many other competing football codes here.

Better still, I will have a team to cheer for now as my beloved Ireland did not qualify.

One of the many benefit of dual citizenship.

Good Luck.....

Hope Australia get a better player in Kewell than Liverpool bought. £65,000 a week for a waste of space. He has gone backwards since he joined L'pool and would struggle to get a game in the English div2. I feel sorry for the fans to have to watch him.

That said (rant over) congrats to the Aussies. I think they will surprise a few teams, and coached by Hiddink (?sp) who got S Korea so far last W Cup, they have a decent side. Good luck to you.

It is great for oz soccer normally when we go well in some sport a lot of kids start playing it and brings there profile up.
After america cup win everyone was into sailing.
Cricket is funny not that many kids playing it but we seem to do well at it.
dont think many aussies think we will get much further in world cup but heres hoping.

Yes he has never shown his worth at Liverpool so far, But his injury setbacks are past him now hopefully, And over the last couple of weeks his performances have improved dramaticly and I believe he will come good for Liverpool and shine for Austrailia in the World cup......

Yes his form for Liverpool has been woeful.....maybe infuries being the problem....but he did play well on Wed nite, there is no denying that.....l rate him the best Australian player l have seen.

He seemed really motivated to do well the other nite.....maybe he might have turned the corner and Liverpool can expect some better performances from him for the rst of the year ?
