more rugby........this weekend

So I'm picking:

AB's (reserves) of course over Scotland......and the Grand Slam

PS just warning you taht I won't be at work on Monday if AB's lose..........

England over Samoa........with Charlie to score plenty of points with the boot

and in an almost impossible to decide match..... Australia over Wales............I think that they are about equal in standing at present

I think that France is playing Romania too???........if so they should be safe

Anyone else????

I think that France are playing the Springboks, should be the game of the weekend.

England have made a few changes but should still have enough to win. Wales v Australia? Wales are poor just now and Australia are wounded, Aus for me.

Enjoy the grand slam tour NelsonOne, the ABs are head and shoulders just now, but it's not world cup year is it?

Not so sure on that one, We started to throw a few passes together last week against the springboks although we never looked like winning, maybe the season is about to start because the players havent even been doing the buisness at club level.

I just looked up the fixtures calender boys....or is that boyo for you Mars....

France is playing Canada.............I think France might just pip them by the convivial 50......my apologies to Swift Dave + the C. kiddo if you are reading

Ireland vs Romania..............ditto above....another 50

Italy vs Fiji............and I'm thinking Fiji here in a pretty close match......although Italy has looked a lot better since John Kirwan (ex All Black + coach until recently) left them

Thanks for the kind words re the slam Steve...........very kind and gracious of you particularly after my unseemly words about Charlie.....you are right...it is not RWC year and that still nags in the back of my head re maintaing the form

Mars....you may be right on the Wales vs Aus match.......but hey neither of them are in RWC form at the mo' are they??.....let's just hope they both get it together in the lead up.....we need them to have good form for the Cup

Saturday, Nov 26
Ire v Roma, 12:30
Eng v Samoa, 14:30
France v SA, 21:00
Scot v NZ, 14:30
Wal v Aust, 17:00
Italy v Fiji, 15:00

This is from planet rugby, so I'm now pretty confused about who is playing who. I hope it is France v SA though, 'cos that would be quite a game.

Forget the mickey mouse game between Italy and Fiji, but as for the others (handicaps and prices from Paddy Power)...

Ireland v Romania
Prediction : Ireland by 25 Result : Ireland by 31
Bet : Romania +33 @ 10/11 : Sorry fellas, Romania know how to play this game and Ireland are not firing on all cylinders, Ireland will win and they will get near to the handicap start, but I think it's a try too many

Scotland v New Zealand
Prediction : All Blacks convincingly by as many as 50. Result : New Zealand by 19 (credit to Scotland for playing better than I expected).
Bet : New Zealand -34 @ 10/11 : Forget Scotland the brave and all that, they are going to get crushed by the AB's and no messing !! It's just a question of how many the AB's will win by.

England v Samoa
Prediction : England by 25 Result : England by 37 (silly last try given away by Samoa sunk me here)
Bet : Samoa +34 @ 10/11 : I know Scotland beat Samoa and I reckon Scotland will get demolished, but Samoa are big and strong and will raise their game so much more playing at Twickenham. England are demoralised after last week's loss and have brought in some flair to try and rack up some points, but they are all new to each other, so expect a frustrating afternoon as an England supporter, but a comfortable win none the less.

Wales v Australia
Prediction : Australia by 12 Result : Wales by 2 (well played the Taffs !!)
Bet : Australia -9 @ 10/11 : I'm almost tempted to go for the "handicap draw" here and would have done if it was 10 points i.e. a try and a penalty = 7+3 = 10). At 22/1 the draw might still get some of my hard earned on it !! Wales, what has happened ?? The wheels seem to have fallen off and Australia being a class act should be good enough to hold the Welsh at arms length and secure a modest win.

France v South Africa
Prediction : South Africa by 3 Result : France by 6 (They behaved themselves).
Bet : South Africa +5 @ 10/11 : 5 points is a big handicap in this fixture and it will be tight. France seem to be relying more on their forwards these days and don't seem to have the flair of old. The Yarpies on the other hand appear to rediscovered themslves and the way to play fast flowing attacking rugby (my favourite !!). Ultimately, I think Gallic temperament will decide this and through 1 or 2 stuppid "sin bins", I can see the Yarpies taking full control through the boot of their kicker.

All 5 in an acca pays just over 24/1 and I'll have a couple of quid on that handicap draw just in case

Well the only result I got wrong was the Welsh one, Fair play to them, They came out fighting after the ABs game and showed that they are still a good team and deserved to win in the end........

Sorry about my misleading post earlier in this thread (particularly to Stevethaib)......last time I use getmetickets for Rugby Match Schedules

Hmmm.....I did find out on Friday night..........via the news.....that it was France vs Springboks and yes I think that it was the game of the round with Wales vs Australia not far behind

Both were excellent Rugby matches with high skill levels and both could have been won by either team.........I still think that Aus + Wales should be equal 5th ranking and SA + France behind AB's then England

If I was picking on Diz's quoted prices/starts I would have only got 2 right...England + Ireland...........

Great picking AllyB............AUS-Wales was always going to be close...I ended up taking it as a draw at the TAB....couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that conversion kick from Rodgers near full time...him and me just missed out on a great result

http://www.planetrugby.co.uk/ , great rugby website.

As for the games, I liked the look of England, Tom Voyce was a very big plus and Varndell took his try nicely. Harry Ellis surely must replace Dawson now, it's time for Dawson to get off the stage methinks, but he has been fantastic for England over the years.

Scotland covered themselves in glory judging by the result, but I confess to not seeing the game. And fair play to Wales, Australia are a tough nut to crack (though I do suspect they were softened up nicely for you at HQ)

And France? They made it look easy, they will have a very big 6 Nations, and build nicely for 2007; they will have a major say in where the world cup finishes up.

I think that one sunk quite a few bets !! 55555 Unfortunately there's no real money to be made in rugby as the prices are too short but there is more scope with the handicaps, however it is not easy as it might seem !!

You also did well on the footy with 4 scores "smack on the money" !!
