RUGBY...England vs Samoa...........

Now i know that I have been less than complimentary about Charlie Hodgson at no 10 for England on the board recently however I must give credit where its due and say that Charlie had a great game on the weekend........

I think that some of this was due to having that little Harry Ellis fella at half back........he gave Charlie good, fast, accurate ball which gave him more time/space and allowed him more freedom/better options to create chances and i thought that Charlie used this balll very, very well...........kicking,passing.setting up tries and chances and even bagging one for himself

Even though the opppostion in Samoa was not the quality of ABs or a top tier 6 Nations teams I thought that if I were Dawson I would be shirting my pants as that combination looked a heck of a lot better than with him in the team

I think that Dawson may be suffering from the Gregan/Marshall disease of trying to play as an extra forward and doing too much with the ball rather than giving his no 10 time and space with crisp ball to create the options.....???

Anyway England looked good and Charlie and Harry (nice half backs try too little fella) share my best player award

Thanks Nelsonone. Nice to get a compliment from an AB supporter.
Yep I agree that Charlie and Harry made a fine combination.
Did Lewis Moody get you award for "Best right hander landed" or Mark Cueto for best landings from bad tackles
I wonder how the Samoans would have performed with the guys that are now holding down places in the All Blacks side?
Apart from lots of endeavour and muscle, they aren't going to give any team too many problems I'm afraid.
I just wish we could have another crack at the ABs.

Had to feel sorry for Cueto Dawsey.....every time he got the ball someone tried to kill the poor bugger....but he's a great player.....and England does have an embarrassment of riches on the wing at the moment it would seem

Moody got a couple of good ones in didn't he.....although he got ganged up on and copped a couple from the Samoan captain whilst he was engaged with the no11....Samoan captain should have seen red as well.....

ABs have ceratinly enjoyed sucess with their Samoan component haven't they.........however most of these boys were either born in NZ or came here with there parents as youngsters...........about 25% of NZ'ers are from the polynesian islands and for me it makes for a nice change to the normal sliced white bread culture..........I've always thought that it would be good to have a state of origin style match here with ABs by Poly extraction playing for there birth country.......now that would be good to see!!!

Sorry I'm late here, but that half back combo does it for me as well. Voyce on the wing, Tindall into the history books and a pair of centres would complete the team for me. And yes, Mark Cueto got a right going over...

Got any suggestions for two new centres Steve?

Simpson-Daniel sure isn't the answer at outside centre.

Noon has had a go and isnt ready,OK defensivly but not creative.

Tait seems forgotten, same same H Paul (not good enough IMO)

I'm sure Lewsey could do the job,but then who is the new full back?

What's happened to Ollie Smith? dropped from the bench after the Aus match.

Oh and we may need another No6 if Moody isn't ready after his ban. Would Lawrence get another go?

I like the way the squad is shaping up though.

Oh for an O'Driscoll/Umanga

Gavin Henson springs to mind Dawsey....

Seriously though, I would think Noon or Tindall, just not both of them. Then you could afford somebody a little bit more lightweight like Ollie Barkley, he plays there for Bath now and offers a left-footed kicking option. He would start the six nations there for me.

I also like Voyce over Cohen, and I am a Ben Cohen fan. Maybe you could put Lewsey in the centres, but why do we need to convert a fullback to centre? The options should be there. Got to feel for Tait, he was fed to the wolves.

I like the tight five, if Thompson can throw straight, and only the 6/7 combo open to opinion really. Pat Sanderson plays open side for Worcester, and I thought he had a sensational series. He would get that shirt ahead of Moody for me, but I really don't know where you turn if Moody is unavailable.

I think there will be an outcry for Ollie Smith to get a game soon, and he would certainly be in my picture.
