Winter Olympics
For the first time in many years I am able to watch the Winter Olympic games because I have a Swedish TV channel in Thailand now.
I watched Skiing with shooting earlier today and qualification for ladies alpine skiing with bumps, sorry, have no idea what it is called in English. Great fun. Saw norway winning silver and bronze medals for the first one. (Sweden didnt have any chance, we reached 23rd position)
I wonder, how big is these games in your country??
One of the highlights is ofcourse Icehockey...

Not a big thing in the UK Nicke. Hardly anyone of any note competing for us.
The last time the UK had any interest was when big time loser Eddie the Eagle did the ski jump.

Big Deal
In the USA the winter Games are carried on TV, so I'm sitting here watching it all in High Definition, although a blizzard seems to be screwing up the tv signal at the moment. Anyway, a lot of people watch.

Nicke, it is called mogul skiing.
That girl that finished 2nd today (from Norway) was hot!!!
Canada has sent their biggest team in years to the Olympics this time to prepare for the next winter Olympics which we will be hosting.
Right now the Canadian women are beating the Italian women 10-0 in hockey.
But definately the main event will be the mens hockey!
Can't wait but the gold medal game is on at 5am local time....

The Winter Olympics are pretty big in Holland. Live coverage of almost all events. Speed skating is discussed into every tiny detail, cause that’s suppose to be our thing. I guess for most of you it’s as exciting as watching grass grow. There are some Dutch freestyle skiers competing and we even have a real bobsled team.
……… and today we won our first silver medal.

I watched 15+15km pursuit men, Norway got another silver mdeal and Sweden got 5th place, but he was first when 200m left but lost the spurt.
I also think these guys are very impressive to have the power to do what they do.

Have to disagree with u here AD.....Channel 7 run 3/4 hours every night and that's it, unless one of the pay tv channels are doing it....and l don't think they are apart from a little bit on ESPN.
People l have spoke to don't give two hoots about it at the moment, personally it's not a huge deal, sure there is some interest, but no way is it a big deal......and sure if Australia win a medal, then the interest soars.
There seems to be too many other sports that for me take precedent, such as EPL, cricket, horse racing golf......where does one get the time?

I dont care normally but it is fun to watch sports you usually never watch, and Winter Olympics is a great opportunity to watch some odd sports at highest quality.
Today I watched ladies snowboarding (halfpipe), part of ladies curling (Swe-Canada), ladies Icehockey (Swe-Italy). Snowboarding was another success for Norway, another medal earned with 2 Americans winning the others.

Winter Olympics
Cheer up Nicke its soon Hockey for men and "tre Kronor" looks wery strong this time.spesially up in front with Fosberg,Zetterberg,Sundin,Alfredsson.
As i understand both US and Canada have problems with the weather
Ref:
The worry created by the storm underlines the very tight schedule the men's hockey tournament is operating under.
Canada and the U.S. will have only one practise on Tuesday to try and shake off the jet lag before playing four games in five nights.

Halfpipe snowboarding was great to watch. Especially the womans because i know the dutch girl Cheryl Maas. In the kwalifications she managed to be 4th. Unfortunatly during the finals she crashed and became 11 th.
Some of our speed skating girls are very hot as well. This is Marianne Timmer.
