boxing
I am not a expert but as i anderstand the next big one is between:
Ricardo Mayorga vs. Oscar De La Hoya in May
The golden boy is one of the few boxers i like to follow
And as i understand for many the ultimate match next year will be:
Oscar De La Hoya vs. Floyd Mayweather if they get past Mayorga and Judah

De La Hoya is past it IMO, Have watched his last few fights and he does not look the same fighter...
Also think if he does fight Mayweather, And I am assuming it will be at Welterweight and not at Light-Middleweight, But even going up 2 divisions I am sure Mayweather will have enough too much for De La Hoya...
Dont get me wrong though, In his prime he was the best but time has caught up with him and there is some great fighters around this weight, Possible the best class of fighters in the world...

I would put my money on Mayweather in that one, Should be a good fight though but after Juddahs first loss to Baldomir last month, I dont see him getting past Mayweather, It could work the other way though and he could come out even more determined to win, But I would still go for Mayweather...
Missed the Cotto fight the other night but heard he fought well, And won in 8rounds against a good opponent, Will be great to see him and Hattan get it on later in the year hopefully, As Hattan and Cotto both have fights in May and June, And if they both get through that, They will get it on September/October, It will be a close one but still think Hattan has that little bit extra class to get him through that one...
Mayweather vs Hattan?
Cant see it happening, Mayweather has too much to lose so he will run and avoid a fight with Hattan at all costs, He has everything to lose and not much to gain as he is already supposed to be the best at light-wealtherweight so why dispell the myth? He will move up without fighting Hattan, Although I think Hattan will follow him up through the divisions until he gets his shot but we could be waiting a long time, I would love to see it happen sooner though, As it would be one of the best fights ever I am sure of that, And also one that could go either way, And the winner will go down as one of the greats in the history books, Thats how good I think these two fighters are.....

Well if La Hoya is in good shape and take out Mayorga, think its 6 of May
it will be fun and La Hoya is still an amazing fighter and if that happens ??
Hehe from the last press conference. Mayorga told De La Hoya "You remind me of an old lady past his prime sitting in a rocking chair doing nothing" and vowed to "detach his retina". De La Hoya, who generally prefers to take the high road in promoting his bouts, appeared annoyed by Mayorga's vulgar antics and promised " I'm going to knock you out".

When will a true heavyweight champion emerge. I think Holyfield was a pretender. Tyson missed his time. Had high hopes for Lennox but he couldn't measure up. Would love to rally behind someone but I just don't see much.
I think Tommy Morrison could have contended but that wasn't to be.
Once they win they run from every legitamte threat and it's a real shame.
I'm really enjoying the undercards now. Much better show.

Doesn't matter. Went to the Olympics as a Canadian, took the amateur funding. But I still screamed my head off when he got the title. But I thought Razor was a better fighter

i dont think judah stands much of a chance, but would still like to watch it
cotto beat branco, the italian kid. branco is good but has zero power. cotto messed up his face pretty bad, but with constant left hooks, nothign flashy
branco kinda quit but couldnt blame, seemed he had a broken jaw for 2 rounds, imagine the pain everytime he got hit?

boxing
I did follow boxing a lot more for some years ago.Maybee thats why my favorites starting to geting old. like La Hoya
Last game i saw was John Ruiz versus Nicolay Valuev and if this is the best
in the heavyweight division they have a problem.
Valuev Alias Beast From The East is largest boxer ever (7,0)and he is just looking like the disney goofey and not as a boxer.
It seems that the best boxers are in the lower weight categoriesat the moment, and the heavyweight divison is a kind of a mess at the present time as i read.
But the big money and the majority of the media attention continues to focus on the big boys so its maybee just a queston of time.
Evander Holyfield was my heavyweight favorite for many years but he is down the list now.

Ali was banned from boxing in America becuase of his Vietnam stance.. Hence the rumble in the Jungle and the thrilla in Manila

Ooh ooh, sorry to jump into a thread so late but excuse me! I know Lennox Lewis fought in the olympics under a Canadian flag and switched sides to further his career, but he was way, way better than that 'Razor Ruddock' guy.
That fight came in the era when all 3 versions of the title were controlled by Don King, and they would not give Lewis a shot. Even Tyson ducked him for years.
Ruddock lost on points to Tyson twice, and Lennox Lewis retired him permanently in 90 seconds. That was the most destructive heavyweight fight I can remember including Tyson at his best.
He may not be the best ever, but I would definitely put Lennox Lewis in the top 5 of all time, maybe even the top 3.
