Rooney Out For Six Weeks

Rooney Out For Six Weeks

United issued a statement regarding Wayne Rooney's injury on Saturday evening.

The brief statement read as follows: "Wayne Rooney has a fracture of the base of the fourth metatarsal on his right foot.

"He will be out for six weeks."

Rooney was stretchered off the field in the 82nd minute of United's 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

England's opening World Cup match is on 10 June against Paraguay.

Well let's hope they take him to the world cup anyway, fit or not. We don't have that many players that can stand a game on its head at that level and he's one of them.

I think Rooney and Owen are the dream ticket; I will never understand United passing up the chance of signing Owen.

Peter Crouch always looks like a camel on skates to me. The coaches can obviously see something in him, but I'm blessed if I can.

Crouch is a great player and is underrated.. Believe me I watch him all the time being a Liverpool player..

In saying all that he is not in the same league as either Rooney or Owen, And will not score the type of goals or as many goals as these guys would score, Its essential for England to have these both fit and playing if they want to have any chance of winning the World cup, Time will tell whether thats the case or not...

In all honesty I don't think England have much hope of winning it. They don't know how to win and proved it at Euro 2004.

From the outside looking in, I think England with Rooney and Owen fit, Have as good a chance to win it as they have ever had, There is not many teams better... I would say they will get to the Semi - finals minumum if they dont bump into Brazil in the second or quarters, If they do its a flip of a coin...

You would think so looking at the team; Gerrard, Beckham, Lampard looks pretty good, Ferdinand and Terry playing well, Rooney and Owen up front. They look a match for anyone on paper, but the trouble is that they play on grass.

I think we will see pretty quickly if they have learned the lessons from last time out or not. Portugal were there to be beaten and England could not manage it. I don't know if Brazil are the force that they were, but Germany will have a say as well.

But they should have and deserved to beat Portugal, They just had the important decisions go against them in that match, Nothing they could do about it...

Brazil are still brilliant, I was watching them a while back and they are still as good as ever, And they will be the ones to beat as always... And apart from Brazil, England and Germany you have Italy who are playing some great stuff at the minute, Also you have Holland who are coming into a bit of form at the right time...

Then you have Spain, Portugal and France who you just never know which team is going to show up, I am really looking forward to this World cup even though Ireland unfortunatly are not there, It should be a good one...

PS: I agree with the on paper thing, But I believe this is the time when it will all come together on the pitch, Gerrard is in some fine form at the minute, Lampard is in his prime, Joe Cole is starting to fulfill his potential, Then you have Robinson, Terry, Carragher, Ferdinand and Neville who are as solid as any team at the back, Hopefully you will have Asley Cole back aswell who is possibly the best in the world at left back, You also have Beckham who is the best crosser and dead ball expert in the world and Owen who is one of the most prolific finishers on the big stage.. And lastly then you have Rooney to put the icing on the cake.. If they cant do it now they never will...

If Rooney is out then England can forget it.
Owen is a great goal scorer and ideal partner for Rooney, but he is still unfit, and certainly not match fit either.
So who else is there? Defoe? cant get a regular place in Spurs side and hasn't scored many goals either. He is very similar to Owen.
Vassell? Nope,he hasn't let England down and has pace but the good sides will shut him out.
Crouch? Never an out and out goalscorer, but brings others into the game well.I'd play Sheringham before Crouch

Darren Bent, nope, not enough skill. And thats all I want to say about that

We haven't a prayer. If Rooney does play at all he won't be sharp or match fit. There is no time for that once the qualifying games are over.
Sorry to say but England will be lucky to reach the quarter-finals.

I love it....55555555..

After years of building them up, Now yous are trying to play there chances down, Its a bit of reverse psychology going on here... They have the two best central midfilders in the world, Probably two of the best central defenders in the world, And there wide men aint bad either

Even without Rooney, They should still be able to go all the way to the final if they all gel together...

5555 You never have or never will hear me building up the England football team Ally. They are not good enough and thats it.
Brazil,Holland and Italy all have better sides.
When push comes to shove England always blow it,they do not have that extra something that winning sides have. As an Englishman it pains me,but I speak from the head not the heart.

The really bad news is that, if he isn't play football, he'll have time to 'write' another bloody autobiography...

Suggested title - "How I stubbed my toe... and lived"

Always fun to watch people arguing about footie tournaments before a ball has been kicked!

England do have a chance of doing very well, they have a solid midfield and defence, but not quite sure they have the attacking flair to open up good defenses which is why losing Rooney would hurt so much.

Oh, and nobody has mentioned Argentina in here yet...defo one to watch. And watch out for Mexico too...my tip to get to the semi's, and before you laugh Turkey made it last time out!!

Rooney Out For Six Weeks

Well with

ROBINSON
NEVILLE FERDINAND TERRY A COLE

BECKHAM LAMPARD GERRARD J COLE

ROONEY OWEN

This should be a winning team but i think the history shows that England
dont have any changes in competition with Argentina,Brasil,France,Italy etc..

Sorry

Owen will definatly be there, And replace Rooney with Crouch for the group stages, Him holding up the ball to lay it of to Owen, Lampard, Gerrard and Cole coming forward... Sounds good to me...

We will see, It will be good looking back on this thread after it is all over to see who was right or wrong...

PS: Im not sure they will win it, I actually have a bet with Barcardi73 that they wont, But I still think they can if they play to there best...

Yes and even if they get there they wont maybee be in their best form.

And what can you relplace them with?
Bent,Heskey,Defoe,Vassel,Crouch,Hmm that dont smell gold

Brasil have Ronaldinho.Ronaldo,Adriano,Argentina with Messi,Crespo,Riquelme,
Tevez,France with Zidane,Viera,Makelele at the midtfield and in front with
Henry and Trézéguet.

It could be difficult for England if everybody is not fit for fight

I'd say at least 4 Euro teams would beat England..........Germany, France, Spain + possibly Italy or even Portugal on their day......

Then there is at least one African team capable of an upset win and 3 better teams fron South America........not to mention Asia who had 2 semifinalists last time

That puts England well down my list.............but hey I'd love to see them win it more than anyone else.......just can't see it that's all..........

I am with jonny.......Brazil is head + shoulders above the rest
