England's World Cup Campaign
...is off to the usual flying start, 1-2 against the mighty 10 man Belarus; oh dear
On the bright side, the new wingers (Lennon and ????) looked great, very lively. And the young guy Walcott seems like a find but jeez, here we go again.
Bad points? (apart from the obvious fact that they got beat), Cole's theatrical diving, our goal was offside and Owen Hargreaves looks as comfortable at right back as my mum.
I know it was only a B game, but I seriously hope that there is more than this in the English locker.

Now I'm sure that Ungarn is a real place, but this is all wikipedia can tell me and I'm no better off who/what/where is Ungarn please ?

As I'm an English fan (well I'm English, not sure I am actually a fan, if they were a league team I would have abandoned them years ago), I've learnt to support them by never ever expecting them to win anything (so far, so good), that way it can only get better.
Oh, and always bet on the opposing team that way if England lose, you at least get some money back, if England win you don't mind losing your stake.
England in the WC, 2nd round possibly Quarters depending on who they play - they could be playing Germany in the 2nd round Cannot see much further than that to be honest.
As far the Aussies go, have fun as it's a long way home.
Oh, and my outside tip for that team that always surprises? Mexico - solid team and may even dabble on them winning their group ahead of Portugal

If England are expected to win a match they invariably make hard work of it.
Sven's problem is he is picking his players and not a team. If he was picking a team he would have to drop either Beckham, Lampard or Gerrard. But he won't because he has to have his favourite stars and it matters not that they cannot all fit.
Did not see the Belarus game but it is better for us to lose a few before hand so we don't go into games overconfident. England are a much better side battling against the odds than trying to play fancy football.

No one is talking about France which is why they are my Dark Horse team. They had an awful World Cup last time out but were previously World and European Champions. Add in Zidanes swansong and they are gonna be up there.
Brazil is an easy pick - just hope to see some great football from them.

Agree if not the age have catch up with them.
Same same can you say about the Holland the Orange
My bett goes on them,a lot of experience and a team
with big T.And still they have the individualist to
settle the games
They also play a modern football up today
And that is exactly! what is Englands problem.
They want to play continental football but should
hold on to the English way to play.
Do it simple and let the ball do the work

Not this time ,Coach Marco van Basten have kicked names like Patrick Kluivert and Clarence Seedorf out of the team and Davids and van Bommel is no longer guaranteed a place.
He have put in new generation of talents mixed with
some old experineced players.
And he seems to run it with hard discipline .
Btw,France have already have their first scandal with
some trouble and a keeper who left the camp

Englands biggest game, a must win, is the first group game against Paraguay! If they don't I can't see them getting out of the group! As the 3 main teams should all beat Trinadad and Tobago, but with the last game against Sweden, I think England will strugle, as they always seem to! So if they pick up a win first up, all they may need is a draw with Sweden!
Then the next round, if they make it, will be against the winners/r-up of the German/Poland group. Which is the weakest on paper! (Home Nation bias???) So the winners and runners-up of England/Sweden's group, should get into the quater-finals!
So if Rooney just misses the first game, it might be a big loss for Sven!

I have put money on the dutch as my e/w bet. They look like a good side on paper with enough experiance but also with very good youngsters. I have also a bet on Durk Diggler (Kuyt) to be top scorer as he sounds like a porn star (And looks a bit too. If only he had a handle-bar tash. Then went around fixing ladies pipe-work!! )
Van Nistleroy May be a problem! I think he might be the only one left in the squad with a big EGO!

I thought England played good last night... It was more or less a second string team as Robinson, Terry, Ferdinand, Neville, Beckham, Lampard, Gerrard and Cole only played about 15mins... And even then they were by far the best side, Miles better and can take lots of plus's out of that, The score didnt matter, Yeah its nice to win but it was not essential, And the score did not reflect the game whatsoever... Walcott looks lively and confident (certain to be a special talent), Owen is looking really sharp, Croach played well, Carrick played well, But the main plus to come out of that match was Lennon, He was absolutly brillaint and will be a great option for them to bring on during the match and he will run riot on any defence...
My mind is not changed at all, I still think England will go all the way to the final at least...

Top scorer, I would fancy Luca Toni as he is in fine form and I think Italy will go far in the competition

Ij as an englishman i have to agree with you. Woooo we won the world cup in 1966 ok like lets move on now that was over 40 years ago and yes i agree also that we dont look good enough to win.
The Czechs are a good outsider possiably Spain who always fail to do anything but with the team they have should always do better. i will stick my neck out maybe this time they will do something. They need to make up for the disapointment of the Korea game in 2002.

Again i agree. The dutch have a very good chance. If they give a good account of themselves this year (even if they dont win) they will have a good foundation for euro 2008 when you can only believe that they will improve.

With a person like Robben on the flank it must be a eldorado for Nistelrooij in the box
I put my money on him.
Btw i dont anderstand this Italian fancy thing
Toni is 30 years and have scored 7 Int'l Goals in his
career,A new Salvatore Schillaci? dont tink so
But they have the nicest footbal shirts
