Any England Players In Your World Xi
I have been looking at all the comments from you England fans over the last week or so and chuckling to myself with the place which you seem to believe England rates in world Football............so I was wondering which England players you think will actually win the cup for you and just how many England players would actually make your own world XI teams...........
Got me thinking that despite the genius of a fully fit Rooney........would he actually take out Ronaldo in your team????.....maybe next world cup?????
Beckham....well there is a good little player from Barca and Brazil to take this spot first too.......
Lampard....Owen....hmmm Zidane....van Nistelroj....Shevwhatsawhosit....the list goes on????
Gerard..........I consider to have had the best recent season of any of the English players..... so I might have him as a strike reserve...........
and ya know I can't stand drug cheats........but I reckon Ferdinand might possibly have the best chance.......even though I don't really rate him.......... there is much less quality opposition for his role........?????
I'd be interested in which English player/players you think would make it on this list..............
Be interesting to compare this once the cup is won!!!

Gerrard............. best (all-round) midfeilder in the world! IF he is given the same role as Ballack (For Germany in 2002), england might get to the semi's! BUT A BIG IF!!!!
But then I am a Liverpool fan, so I might be slightly over-rating him!!!!!!

Terry, Cole (Ashley), Gerrard, and Rooney... Easily...
My team would be...
GK - 1) Cech (Czech Republic)
RB - 2) Nesta (Italy)
CD - 3) Terry (England)
CD - 4) Cannavaro (Italy)
LB - 5) Cole (England)
RW - 6) Messi (Argentina)
CM - 7) Makelale (France)
CM - 8) Gerrard (England)
LW - 9) Ronaldinhio (Brazil)
CF - 10) Rooney (England)
CF -11) Henry (France)
Some might be suprised there is only one Brazilian and 4 English players...
But you try name any better players in them positions... I can assure you it will be hard

Ahem, good morning. I'm much better today
If Gerrard gets to play in the correct position he will shine, but where does that leave Lampard?
I think we have 3 players who are genuinely top drawer(four if Rooney is fit): Gerrard, Beckham and Owen. I've said it before but I cannot believe United turned down Michael Owen, he is the best England striker for a long time and if he gets to play alongside Rooney they will be devastating

Almost the same
John Terry, the best defender Ive seen in his position for a long time.
Steven Gerrard, superb midfielder, unquestionably the best in the UK
Wayne Rooney, yes better than Ronaldo is now.

Terry's mobility is always a question though! But for reading the game and determination he can't be bettered!
Rooney's temper at the moment is the only thing that is letting him down, imo. You can't be in the select 11 if you are liable to make it the select 10!!!!

Terry and Lampard. Lampard has had a fantastic season and Terry is far better than Rio Ferdinand and Sol Campbell....... Im also not just saying that because they are Chelsea players. Look at the Form of Lampard he has been brilliant this season again. Terry is Great at reading the game. Some of his defending is world class.

Im always having this massive debate?shouting match my my godfather. I just don't see the point of Lampard as a midfielder!!!!!! His goal ratio is good but i never seen him be a midfielder!!! His tackling and passing is average at best. Without the magnificent makalele behind him covering his mistakes, he would be quickly found out!
For England, i feel, you will have to play a defensive midfielder alongside him. This would really limit the whole of Englands effectiveness not just Gerrard's or whoever plays in the "Holding" role!
If England play the 4-3-3 with CArrick holding, and Gerrard as an 'extra' forward, this would solve this, but the formation is very un-natural for the players!
Emmm.... a little detailed for a LOS board. Im sorry for the tangent!

Dont you work anymore
I would rate Lucio Brasil and Carles Puyol Spain and Alessandro Nesta Italia and Fabio Cannavaro/Italia
A clas higher
Gerrard is OK in a role in center just behind the forwards
But Rooney against rogba,Nistelrooy,Messi,Adriano,Ronaldo,Totti,Hen ry,Sjevsjenco
You need to play like in the 60,s with 5 up in front
if hes gone be in the team

If the CROUCH starts off well against Paraguay, and scores say, I can see him having a very good World Cup! BUt if starts like he played in the FA Cup final, then I can see him doing a JAson (Pineapple) Lee and droping like a bomb!

I just can't see it in Crouch. The coaches at Liverpool and England obviously see something in him, but to me he looks clumsy and obvious.

And why are you not at work Petter? Or are you doing an IJ?
I pick Rooney for his performances in the Euro94 before he was injured.A big game player.
I think Ronaldo is past it,and not fit. Agreed, there are great strikers around, but I'd pick Rooney as one of two. Henry the other.
I'd put Rooney above Van Nistelroy,Drogba and Totti. Haven't seen anything of Shevshenko or Adriano yet

Rooney only scored against the Swiss and Croatia. Lets face it that isnt exactly hard. At least Lampard scored the goals against the big teams. (ok Rooney got injured in the Portugal game) But didnt do an awful Lot against France. Not sure if he is up for the big games.

I am guessing you are a Chelsea supporter, No doubt...55555555..
I think Lampard is a great player, His problem is Gerrard is better
And until England give Gerrard the free role infront of Lampard, They will win nothing...
PS: Your right, Im a Liverpool supporter...5555555..

And I'm a Chelsea supporter but still put Gerrard ahead of Lampard in the England side. The problem is they are very much alike and can Sven the shagger play them together. I think he can if Lampard is prepared to drop back and allow Gerrard to support the forwards the way Lampard does now.
Two great players though, and Lampard scores more for England.
