Beckham....the Right Captain????
I watched a reasonably good docco about Becks last night (by a guy called Lovejoy..........???) it was covering his career and leading up to his captaincy of the England team for next weeks WC..........
I must say in all that I have ever seen shown of Beckham in interviews etc he comes across as a decent bloke who loves his footy, family and seems to be a very loyal guy......he said that he was heartbroken to leave MU but Fergusen said he was no longer required..........
I rate him as one of the best in his position in the world and without doubt the best set piece playmaker currently in the world...........certainly the best England has ever produced..........and there is probably only Pele who has been better at it........
I am unsure about his leadership of men however.......... and must say his stupid lashing out for a red card leaves a question mark about his leadership qualities however I think that he is probably still the best man for captain available to England..........????...........Is there anyone else you would prefer to see there?????

I think he's grown into it, he was a surprise choice at first but I think he carries himself very well these days. No complaints from me. He's been our most consistent player over recent years.

The great Peter Crouch for Captain and part-time manager!
I think it should be Gerrard, but that won't happen till after this world cup, when Beckham retires from International football.
Honestly can't see why Owen is consdered Vice-Captain though? At least there are reasons for Beckham!

Beckham is captain of England and you would be extremely stupid of anyone to try and take it away from him before this World Cup... After the World Cup is over... I think the mantle should be handed on to either Gerrard or Terry... Obviously it would be Gerrard for me...5555555..

I agree and think Becks has grown into the job and does it well, my vote would go to Tery as I like the captain to lead from defence, he motivates well and will be a permanent feature in the side for the next few years.

I'm happy with Beckham as captain, and beyond the World Cup if his form warrants a place in the side. Whatever you think about him,he always gives 110% when he has played for England. Whether he is a good motivator I wouldn't know.
When Beckham eventually steps down,or is replaced either Terry or Gerrard could do the job equally well. My choice would also be Terry, simply as I too think that a defender is the best position from which to organise a team.

I'm with you there Dawsey.......Terry would be next for me.......
As you say best place to see the game from...he has cemented his place, has no other peer in england and seems like a level headed guy.........
Gerard is the best english player to me at present but as I captain I am unsure..........he's a bit qixotic
