Wallabies Vs England

Hmmmm......does anyone really care about this one...........what with the Football World Cup about to flood our senses.........

I am thinking the wallabies for both of the two tests.........just because they are at home and England.......rightly so......is rebuilding........

I hope Larkham is playing....it will be interesting to see how the two revised front rows go at each other..........

Wallabies have a geat backline....

Good to see England trying out new guys, this is what we all wanted after the farce of the six nations.

If the Aussie front row is as poor as the one which came over here they will get smashed again, but I find that hard to imagine. There are an awful lot of players not making the trip though, it will be interesting.

Watch out for Magnus Lund, he is Sale's no 7 and a real star. Olly Barkley should shine as well, though not too sure about the scrum half.

I would really like to see England get something out of this, but I can't see it. Two tight Aussie wins would do I think.

received this today from one of the betting services I keep an eye on...

Let's back England this weekend!

England's Rugby Union team, that is.

While I'm hoping that Sven's men make a great start in the World
Cup against Paraguay tomorrow, I reckon that a nice bit of value
has slipped under the bookies' radar in the international rugby
match down under between Australia and England this Sunday.

We can bet England with a 14-point start – and that rates a bet.

---------------------
Back a winner Down Under
---------------------

The present Australian side has had plenty of problems with
indifferent form over the last year or so - and I don't see them
as in the same class as the great Aussie teams of the past. They
recently changed their coach, and new man John Connolly has
brought in a number of internationally inexperienced players to
try to get things moving – but considering that his side is such
a strong favourite with the bookmakers - they still have
something to prove in my book.

England have had a disappointing time of it since winning the
rugby World Cup in this very stadium a couple of years back, but
if you check out their results, they have seldom been beaten by
more than a few points, and I think that they could at last be on
the 'up' again.

They've made a stack of changes to the line-up we saw fail in the
Six Nations earlier this year – and my feeling is that the new-
look England has plenty of game winning potential.

The brand new set of backs looks exciting – their style of play
will more be adventurous than that of the old regime, and they're
all potential try-scorers. The new forwards are lighter, but
they're faster and more mobile.

Overall this England side might look a bit undersized compared to
the last crew – but they promise to move the ball better, use the
field better – and get across the try line more often.

With a 14 or a 13-point start England rate a value bet on the
bookies' handicap, at 10-11.

stupid bastards here are doing track work on the train lines into the stadium on game day,80 000 punters will have to get buses or drive to the game bloody hell.
should still be a good game,

AUSTRALIA 1.18
ENGLAND 4.40

AUSTRALIA (13+) 1.75
AUSTRALIA (1-12) 3.25
DRAW 34.00
ENGLAND (1-12) 5.25
ENGLAND (13+) 14.00

think australia (1-12) might be a bet

The Wallabies selectors last night conceded they had taken an enormous gamble by picking Australia's most inexperienced front row in more than two decades for Sunday night's Test against England.

Not since 1983 have Australia fielded a front row boasting just one starting Test cap. That was against minnows Italy - who are not a powerful scrummaging outfit like England.

Queensland loose-head prop Greg Holmes is the only front-rower with Test experience, while Western Force ****** Tai McIsaac and Reds tight-head prop Rodney Blake will be making their Test debuts.

McIsaac's selection was the most unexpected considering NSW's Adam Freier was one of the standout ******s in the Super 14. Freier has missed out on the Sydney Test but is a certainty to play against England in Melbourne on June 17.

Wallabies coach John Connolly yesterday strongly hinted he would play two different packs in the England series. He first wanted to gauge whether the larger front row had the ability to nullify a prop combination the Australian coaching panel believes may be better than the one that decimated them at Twickenham last November

Sheridan, the prop who did the damage in the last tests, is not travelling this time but the England front row does look pretty tasty and full of experience.

Pat Sanderson at 8 is a bit of a surprise, he plays at 7 for his club, but Moody was in great form at the end of the season so you would want him to play. I also think Balshaw is a mistake at 15, Van-Gisbergen had a great season there for wasps and should hve got the nod.

I'm looking forward to these games though, we should learn something.

Too true. Pity it was too late to remove Robinson as coach/manager. Some of his selections surprise me

Ireland are head and shoulders the best team in the UK/Ireland

But those Blacks will take some beating, even their 2nd 15

I saw the first half and am surprised at the result. You could see the flaws in the England team but Australia did not look 30 points better. Have to agree with you here Dawsey, wrong man picking the team.

I think we had to know about Voyce and Varndell, and neither of them looked like an international winger today. Also, if Pat Sanderson is the best No.8 in England at the moment we have a real problem, and the second row were abject.

On the plus side, Olly Barkely got some game time and the scrum half looks a real find. Tait looks better than he did last time we saw him.

World cup? Not with this set of players (and coaches), nowhere near.

have to agree with all of you boys here........England were crap.....Australia not convincing......certainly not 30 points better........but did dominate lineout and looked better in general play.........they were crap in the scrums where England looked pretty solid......but England seemed to have less imagination + penetration than in the 6 Nations and as could be expected had very little cohesion.........

at this stage I would put Ireland + France ahead of both of these teams......Australia still lookin for another prop to go with Rodzilla....Rodney Blake....and I'm sure that both Paul and Freir will be ahead of McIsaac at ******.....he was unconvincing and Holmes was pathetic....could have been penalised almost every scrum

Agree with most of the above comments - disappointing game with a flattering score line for Australia. Didn't notice McIsaac at ******, but sure noticed when Jeremy Paul came on. Holmes was lucky not to have been penalised a lot more often as well, but I guess a player has to make their Test debut some time and get some experience under their belt at that level - I won't write him off yet. Gregan's experience on the other hand is not enough to make up for his slowness, but full marks for that try saver. Not convinced about Elsom at no. 8 either but since I didn't see any of the Super 14 comp I don't know what else might be available there. Smith had another outstanding game and the backs were superb again.

It's bizarre. Olly Barkley plays at centre for his club, but was asked to play at 10 last week and did a decent job. Tait has been outstanding at centre all season playing alongside Jamie Noon. The genius Robinson, having thrown Tait to the wolves in his first international has now restored his centre partner to the side and switched the kid to the fcuking wing!

Pat Sanderson plays on the flank for his club, so why ask him to play at 8? Why have we travelled with 3 flankers and no No8? Balshaw at full back is a mystery too, a guy that could really do with being introduced to a tackle bag sometime soon as our last line of defence.

I think England are about to take another thumping. Andy Robinson should do the decent thing and bugger off before the World Cup.

Flogged again, and just woeful at times. Un-contested scrums looked tactical to me, 'The Genius' wanted Lund on and did not dare to take off the abysmal Worsley so took a prop off instead.

Tom Varndell was embarassed today, he needs to join Balshaw in some tackling drills.

The biggest problem England have is the coach, his tactical decisions rank up there with the very worst. Awful, awful rugby.
