beer controversy in world cup
apparently theres a controversy that an american beer, busweiser has exclusive rights to sell beer at the world cup
although they did pay for the rights, seems strange that in germany, known for its beer, you have to drink an american beer!
oh, well, leave it to the yanks to piss people off!!

I would not go to the game if I had to drink Bud. Might as well stay home and drink good beer there and watch the game on TV.

It will only be inside the ground, and if they paid for it it's their right.
I have to say that Budweiser are heavily involved in the WC coverage over here and the TV adverts are brilliant. I don't mind their beer either.

Same same. I think Budweiser is one of the worst beers I have ever tasted.

i think the fifa looks for the sponsors, so they don't care too much if the beer is from germany or any other place...i guess they look after the public image of the company and the money

their commercials are good though. maybe they should spend less money on making commercials and more money on making their beer taste less like piss and more like beer.
Funny how third world countries like the Philippines and Thailand can make a good beer but the big US breweries suck. Thank god for Micro Brews in the US.

Just the money.
highest bidder wins and the fans lost in this case.

Budweiser (as known worldwide and US etc) is piss poor and sorry to say but most basic beers sold in the US seemed awful to me..
Back when I was a poor teenager we used to drink Budweiser Budvar (largish bottles like a Thai 'large' in red label normal or black label for the hedge monkeys and drongos hanging out on the towns benches !! Might be a 15 year old memory but I still remember that being a really nice beer and was cheap also (I was young, that was a crucial part of my drink choice equation).. Very malty hopsy kind of taste.. They probably cringed at the Budweiser popularity.. I think its called something else when sold in the states.

Seem to remember red / gold label on a brown bottle.. And I think it was Czech or other eastern block.
I have a memory of it being really good but also need to bear in mind it was that or a multi litre bottle of cider.. Was back in my teenage poor years.. Might just have been good in comparison.

beer controversy in world cup
Czech Budweiser (Budejovicky Budvar)has been registered and sold for years, and they battle over who does have the legal right to the commercial use of this name. The dispute has been taken to courts in different countries and still goes on.
And the Czech one is great

In Ireland most people either drink Bulmers or Budwieser until recently, It was probably the top selling beer here for years, I personally dont drink beer and that was probably caused from drinking that shit years ago, I would literly get sick drinking that crap straight away, Unless I was already pissed and then it does not really matter what I drink
Now I would say Miller is probably the no1 beer of choice in Ireland, Well it is in the places I drink anyway, Its 10 times better than Bud and I could actually stomach a couple of bottles of it on a rare occasion even though I dont drink beer, Im a Bulmers man
