Holland v Portugal Any thoughts
I wasn't going to start another thread about individual matches but after watching this game i thought as it was quite a contoversial game it might generate a lot of intrest...... This has to be the dirtiest game of the world cup so far..... It was a shame in a footballing sense as this game was really good..... People may slate the referee for all the yellow and red cards but most of them IMHO were deserved.... You wouldnt think that Portugal v Holland would have resorted to what it eventually became.... A free for all..... Still it was the most entertaining game of the world cup so far....

4 Red Carded.............
90 mins + 2: Ridiculous scenes as Van Bronckhorst is dismissed for a foul on Maniche and the record for cards in a World Cup match has been broken
AND STILL LOTS OF GAMES TO BE PLAYED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE big winners in this game are england i cant really believe whats happening they now face a team in the last 8 minus their main player DECO i now make england overwhelming favourites to beat portugal . I am not a fan of portugese footaball there time wasting tactics are disgusting but then again we saw it all in the uefa cup final a couple of seasons ago when porto cheated celtic

It is a pitty that Holland does not go any further, but the goal for Portugal is counting and shame for the action of Figo. This was for sure the dirtiest game but interesting.

Holland v Portugal Any thoughts
Jeeeze 16 yellow and 4 reds
Think Deco take the price with 2 idiotics cards and now he cant play the England match.
Dident like the way Holland take Ronaldo out of the match and that was just the start of this battle Mabee the ref chould have markt that he was the boss already at that time and sent him of.
Its funny to see players on this level has so little selfdisiplin

The way you took out Ronaldo was a shame
And when the ref drop the ball afther Portugal have it,its normally sportsmanship to give the ball back and that cost Deco a yellow

it was an entertaining game to watch. what i didn't get was why ruud van nistelroy didnt play. i heard he had some kind of argument with the coach or something, is that right?

2nd half looked more like Aussie Rules than anything else - maybe tonight Aussie - Italy encounter will go the same way ?!
Still was worth staying awake for - and unexpected to say the least. Should make England happy - but if they continue to play without real passion even getting an easier ride past Portugal to the Semi's will most likely see them go up against Brazil.

I agree.
They took out Ronaldo, and what Heitinga does after the dropping of the ball is certainly not fairplay.
When Deco got his second yellow Cocu was at least as much in fault as Deco

I think in the second half they played only for 20 minuts. The other minuts there was a Portugal player on the ground. But they scored and we didn't so they deserved to win. I think its experience that made the difference.

Yes it was a dirty match but 16 yellows and 4 reds, Compared to the amount of fouls that were committed (25 fouls) is absolutly shocking, Them stats just dont add up...
But what is really pissing me off is, I forgot to change back to Portugal to win last night.....
So I lost out on my point

Same problem for me,but i did change back just before the game
It was difficult because Portugal and Holland have always been my favorites.
And tonight i think the second game SUI-UKR is a difficult one

One of the more exciting games of the WC but mostly through unfortunate circumstances.
