Tri Nations Rugby
Well the Wallabies truly put Springbocks to the sword on Saturday night..................49-nil........with a bonus point.......so now Walabies + AB's on 4 points each (AB's have a match in hand)
Springboks were not in it..............biggest winning margin by an Aus team against Springboks and biggest losing margin to nil for the Springboks......a shattering loss.........
Jake the snake can say goodbye very soon unless they can win against the AB's this week.......yeah right!!!!!
Aus front row worked well against a less disciplined front row.......their line out was superior and the backs were scintillating..........
Yep I think Australia has cemented 2nd best team in the world........well equal with France anyway.............until that can be sorted...............
Springboks to make a better showing this week.....but AB's will win comfortably no doubt............
home games are deffo big advantage in this competition...........

I missed this game, but the score tells the story. A proper flogging.
I'm really surprised at how far backwards the 'Boks have gone. They won the tri-nations a couple of years ago with a very young team, I thought they would go on from there and have a serious tilt at the world cup.
On this form, it's the All Blacks at a canter for me. I would not be surprised if they gave some of the less experienced guys a game against the 'Boks.
It looks like the Aussie bar is the best bet for the rugby in Patong, but there is one a bit nearer my hotel as well. Black Sheep or something, I will investigate.

Try Funky's (from the top of Bangla turn right, about 100 yards before Christins on the right) They have a glassed off aircon'd area with a big flat screen, watched a WC game in there and was very good. Also some good lookers working on the pool tables outside if the game is boring.

Changes all round
8 changes to the all Blacks side to play the Yarpies at the weekend with the highlight for me at least that Ruben Thorne gets a start..
5 changes to the Boks, with probably the most interesting one being the bracketing of Butch "no arms in the tackle" James with Meyer Bosman at 10.
Solly Tyibilika takes over from Joe van Niekerk at openside and goes up against Richie Macaw.
Should be an interesting game and dont write off the Boks. They will play the rush defence again and as we saw last year they can unsettle Carter considerably with this ploy. As Aron Mauger is not playing outside him either for this game expect to see some instability in the AB's backline.
Weather will probably be crap as well...snowed again last night (in Canterbury)
All Blacks by 13 and under.......

In the absence of any firm plan, and the fact that the bloody bars are shut here so I won't be seeing anyone tonight, I'm going to stick with the Black Sheep place and watch the game there.
I expect the Springboks to cut up rough, as they do when they can't win, and the ABs to get a good going over.
All Blacks by 15-20 for me.

All Blacks 35 South Africa 17
So Steve you were more on the money than I was....
An interesting game, especialy the Boks scoring a try 17 seconds into the match.
Some positives for the AB's but expect Henry to make changes before we face up to the Wannabies in Brisbane next week...

I can never get the England games anything like.
I don't know if I will get to see this weekends game, it will be fairly hectic when I get home, but I think the Aussies have gained some ground and so does GH because he has picked his strongest team.
I think this weekend is Aus v NZ in Brisbane, if so I go Australia by a single score; sorry guys . If it's any consolation I hope I'm wrong.

Another excellant game....even if there was a wee bit of gamesmanship at the start with the Aussies doing a "warm up / tackle bag session" after the haka....AB's said it helped them to get more focus on the start of the game whilst they were waiting.....
Wannabies vs the Jarpies next weekend...should also be a good one....

I caught some highlights and am glad to see I was wrong, it was a single score but the other way. I also saw your man (Collins?) pulling the hair of that pineapple-head bloke in the ruck. I think Australia have the ABs concerned here.
As far as the Tr-Nations goes, it must be pretty much all over now? Can they get through the comp unbeaten? I'm not sure what games are left but fair play to the ABs and a real statement re the world cup.

George Smith....Pineapple Head.....luv it.... and yes it was Jerry Collins.
There was a mention made by the Wallaby coach at the after match conference but it has gone no further. Smith spoke to Collins after the game and he apologised.
Story is at http://www.rugbyheaven.smh.com.au/ar...198108232.html
Still three more games to go for the AB's in the Tri Nations, one home game against Austrailia Saturday week and then two in the Republic which will be biggys....That is where the AB's have stumbled in the past not winning the away games against the Boks in SA. So its still not done and dusted.....

Can't see the ABs failing to win the rest of their games now.Aussies have upped their game and I'd put them on par with France for 2nd best team worldwide.
I see England have named a 55 man squad for the Autumn internationals
leading into the 6 nations. Looking forward to seeing England take on the ABs on Nov 5th at Twickenham .

well boys back home again now and looking forward to this weekends match up............Jarpies will be better for recent runs but Wallabies will still do it!
Nice to meet up with Steve + Simon to watch AB's take on SA..........SA big improvement on their thrashing by Wallabies a week earlier but still not up to the ABs in any dept.....funny watching Si drink beer out of a coffee cup.....55555....bloody elections
Watched last weeks game in the Aussie bar with a few diving mates..........pretty pissed up but it was a real Rugby test and could have gone either way........I bet on the Wallabies to win it by less than 7 but happily did my dough...........I just new that they would put in a big one.......
Think SA will beat Wallabies in one match in SA and go very close to beating the ABs in one match there too.........but it will still finish ABs.....Wallabies......SA....
I wouldn't be wishing to see that ABs v England match tooo soon if I were you Rog.................55555

Oh I don't think the result is in any doubt Nelson
It certainly won't be a repeat of last Autumns game where we played very well and won.
Just want to see how much the England team want to win and the type of performance they put up. Maybe a pointer to how well they can expect to progress in the WC.
BTW JW is back and fit again in the squad. Good news for us anyway.
Incidentally,do you think the AB s have peaked too soon with the World Cup still a year away? Every time they send a great squad to the WC and come away beaten (except 87). Will this be different

Always my biggest fear Dawsey.......... .......I've had to live through it a couple of times!!!!!!!
I hope that England too can rebuild and that little Johnny can give them some impetus.........I would like to see them do well at the RWC!!!!
I still think that GH is doing absolutely the right thing by resting players and playing different combinations for different matches........but the A team was definitely in last week against the Wallabies........I just hope he doesn't get cricified if he loses a match in the lead up.....it would be good for them to be beaten beforehand......
I do find the Wallabies incredible though.........especially with Larkham playing......in fact only with Larkham playing........I just love that guy at 5/8.......he is magic.......they have bugger all depth outside of their squad but always put a competitive team on the pitch........and they will do well under John "knuckles" Connolly.......he is a no frills, no psychiatry kind of old world coach and the players have done well under him so far and will continue to do so!!!!

I think "knuckles" Connolly will do well, like you said he is a no frills coach who relates well with the players.
Interesting side note to come out of last weekends game...Connolly's wife is a Kiwi, born in Wellington...she was seen in one of the coperate boxes at the game last Saturday night wearing an Aussie jumper with an AB's scarf around her neck
Hows that for impartiality.....

Sounds a bit like me jaypee...............55555
grew up in Oz with some bits in NZ + UK......but played Rugby only here in NZ....so hence the AB fascination/support
Now I live in NZ most of the time (have houses in both countries......but backwards and forwards on business a lot)........and still cop shi'ites from mates on both sides of the Tasman no matter what happens in a Wallabies vs ABs match.......i am always a loser....dependant upon who is ribbing me.........55555

Well a narrow win the the Wallabies on Sat night.........crap game.........no one wanted the ball........all they did was kick it back to the other team rather than try to find touch......looked like a game of "forcey backs".........
Australia lucky to get out of it with a try in the 77th minute and a sideleine conversion...........20 ponits to 18......not convincing at all....a small improvement for Jarpies but a few giant steps backwards for the Wallabies!!!
Looking forward to another ABs win in 2 weeks (Auckland.....and I will be there) over Aus............

Another big one this saturday night lads......AB's vs Wallabies in Auckland.......early start at 5.30pm local time so about 6.30am in the UK......
Wallabies are talking it up big time but I can't see them getting past the AB's at home......they missed their chance in Brisbane.....AB's to win and tie up the trophy already.....before stepping foot on SA soil............
Wabblies have Phil Waugh coming in for George Smith.....who will be coming off bench I'd say early in the second half either for Waugh or Elsom....should have Cordingly starting over Gregan as well but no one is Aus has the balls for this!!!!
Oh guess where I am headed for the weekend.......

Err Auckland with your green and gold scarf
Enjoy the game Nelson. Cant see the ABs being beaten away let alone at home. I reckon the bookmakers won't be taking too many bets on the Aussies.

Well lost my bet.....$50....but well worth it for the best game of Rugby this year.........without a doubt!
You could hear the tackles in the stands and this was the most commited Wallabies side I have seen for some years.....you could see it in their eyes....a great win to the AB's who for once looked puzzled at half time.....behind 20 to 11.....but trusted their skills and composure and eventually got back on top....in a very close one.....a great game of Rugby played with the kind of passion of the old classic matches between the two teams.....
Wallabies probably over did it with 2 illegal shots on McCaw.....Lotte got 5 weeks for THAT dangerous spear.....someone please let Brian O'Driscoll know that there is justice in the Rugby world......if you do it to a Kiwi but not to a Irisman .......and Phil Waugh was lucky not to be fronting the judiciary for his smacking stiffish swinging arm across McCaw's cheek.......
What a treat....and....the AB's have won the Tri Nations without the forthcoming 2 matches in SA.....pretty decisive really
