Best Junior Sports Performance

Went to watch my nephew play Rugby on Saturday.....and his team won the open Under 12 competition for Wellington......great achievement!!!!

Suddenly dawned on me that I had won the same tournament for the same school in the same age group years ago in my first year of Rugby.....I played on the wing.......yes I wasn't always an old pumpoi bastard.....

Anyway it was quite a coincidence and made me feel like a very proud old uncle....got me thinking whether it (my win...not my nephew's) was my favourite junior sporting moment.....probably not.....as I think the proudest mo' I ever had was just making a tournament......in the local Mattara Junior Surfing (surfboard riding) Championships....won my heat....knocked out second round......loved every minute of it!!!

What was your favourite junior sporting achievement

ah, reliving the past!! love it
i played most sports in high school but only was real good at american football, have been playing since i was 6 until 22, quitting in university although i started because it was alot more fun drinking beers in the parking lot
i miss football dearly. in the states if you played hockey, baseball or basketball you can continue to be in leagues and paly the same game but all they really have is flag football and it doesnt interest me. i love the hitting

It must have been when I was maybe 9-10 years old, we managed to win our local division in basket ball and was playing in a regional divion/cup or something, we proceeded well and one of the last games I released myself and played with confidence and started to play as a star. After that game I played pretty well in years to come and qualified to the All Star team in my city for my age.

Nelce if you remebered back to when you was 12 I am impressed, were you wearing suits covered in little arrows back in them days????

I reckon no matter what I have acheived in sport over the years nothing ever made me more proud than the sporting acheivements of my sons, seeing your boy win the egg and spoon race at age 4 was great. Then of course we had that stupid rule come in that competitive sports were not good for growing lads and everything had to be set up with no winner, how fecking stupid was that?? by the time the lads got to 12 it was back on full competition, they hated that period when they couldn't win any thing.
