gutless ICC
anyone been watching the big hole the IC have been digging themselves into with the Paki ball tampering issue..........
First up in the last test the two umpires suspect ball tampering and give the Pakis a 5 run penalty and change the ball......Pakis play on and then after tea decide to protest.....don't come out for about an hour during which time under the laws of the game the match was forfeited........act bewidered when they eventualy walk back out on the field and are told that they have forfeited the match.....despite being requested to come out several times and being told of the consequences of not coming out...... The ICC calls a hearing into this and there is talk about a suspension for Al Haq for bringing the game into disrepute or some such crap....The Pakis then counter that if Al Haq is suspended they will take their (tampered) ball and go home......without playoing the one day series......all of a sudden the hearing is postponed by the ICC as the guy who was gonna hear the case had an "illness in the family" Umpire Darryl Hair is hung out in the press with no support from the ICC over the next couple of days....and then after talking to the umpires co-ordinator says he has had a gutful and wants to resign.....umpires co-ordinator says that about half a mil US would e a good figure to ask for....so he writes a confidential leter to Malcolm Speed head of ICC and asks for this in exchange for his resignation.....so what does ICC do.....they leak this to the press and then Hair looks like a cheat and all pressure is off them to have a hearing so the one day series can go ahead without the promised enquiry.... Midway through the series the ICC anounces that it won't have the hearing until AFTER the one day series is over......... SO NOW WHAT???????......will anyone one be punished apart from the Umpire for one of the poorest sporting moments in the history of cricket...... Guess not.....????..........pathetic!!!!

Well .... It seems that its all because the umpire is a racist! Shock! Horror!
Funny how the racist tag seems to crop up so often - but only about teams from the sub-continent. I don't understand why, but the whole issue of whether the ball was tampered with or not seems to have fallen by the wayside. Let's have a ruling on the central issue before we start worrying about the way that players and management reacted. If there was no tampering, then the Pakistan team should rightly be pissed off and there is some small mitigation for the way they reacted. If there was tampering then the ICC should hang them out to dry for unprofessional, unsporting and uncricketing behaviour.

BTW....Windies teams...SA teams etc have all cried racism over time.....not just sub-continent teams....every team who is not all white and one that was (SA).......has played the card.... Ray Illingsworth even took the England team off during a test match against Australia years ago!!! They either all play under the ONE set of rules and show respect to the Umpires or cricket is F#cked...... Stupid game anyway!!!!

I agree - umpire's decision is final! Otherwise they might as well play football - now there's a game I hate.

ICC has always shown itself to be a toothless tiger.
I was in Pattaya when this happened.....so l have only recently come up to speed (Malcolm!) with the incident........could have been handled so much better than it was at the time........now it's just snowballed into a catastrophe. It's just not cricket.

Well te hearing is now on lads.......about a month after the event......just so nobody notices...
What's the bet Pakis get off the ball tampering charges and Al Huq gets a "darn telling off" by the ICC and perhaps a fine, maybe even a small suspension.....but it will all fizzle out into nothingness.... Wonder if the ICC will send Hair to India for the one day championships......

got off the ball tampering as predicted.....4 one day match ban....not even any tests....and here's me thinking he staged a walk off in a test match and then forfeited it causing masive loss of monies and disturbance to cricket lovers.....pathetic.....Hair hung out to dry.....

I suppose the ICC will just ignore the poll from Wisden where Hair was just voted Umpire of the Year after the ICC sacked him.
