Talbotman
NOW HERE IS A FIRST
a scotsman defending england guys there is no doubt that the aussies were better than england but i definately think england were up against it from the off too many players coming back from bad injuries flintoff-vaughn-harmison these 3 are englands best players then you had trescothick going home and the fact that simon jones did not even travel and then andrew strauss had a nightmare tour
i personally think it all went wrong for england on that final morning of the 2nd test when they through away a 100% draw and went 2-0 down that was shattering and they never recovered from that.
but in 3 years time i will still back england to win the ashes back especially now warne and mgrath have gone by that time probably langer and gilchrist will have gone as well

Maybe worth it if the odds are long Jonny. You have to look hard for another side apart from the Aussies.
I honestly expected these 3 final games to be a formality.
Aussies win the first and get a banker in, let England win the 2nd and let it go to a decider for the extra revenue
England winning the first must be quite an upset to the Aussies after the way they played in the qualifying matches. Maybe a possible upset yet, but if any team can come back its the Aussies. Anyway, well done to England and Collingwood

Let's hope it goes the distance AD...........I don't want that Duckworth Lewis system to come into play.
Just on tv now.........reduced to 41 overs...........Target 227 now.
Aust 3/39...........188 to win off 35 overs.
Hayden, Ponting, Gillie out.
It's gonna be hard to win from here.

England kicked our butt for sure.
The game was marred by rain interruptions, but that's no excuse at the end o the day.
Congrats, to the English team after their miraculous comeback from their disastrous Ashes series.
Congrats, must also go to their supporters who stuck with em............I think a few may have gone home early after the test matches.

Well well, who would have predicted that then?? Not me for certain, so congrats to England for beating the best team in the world on their own patch in a final 2 - 0
Maybe England aren't quite as bad as we all thought

yep.....England got better and Aus lost its way just when it mattered........
good result for both teams IMHO...........England needed some confidence before WC after a major beating in ashes....and Aus needed some competition and a reality check before WC...............

It just shows what a farce this competition can be as Australia dominated the round robin matches and in truth it's a hollow victory. More than anything I am delighted for the Barmy Army however, many of them are now in Pattaya because I see them walking around in their excellent T-Shirts.
