Fewer mid-majors this year
No George Mason for one thing. Hard to tell who might go on a cinderella run this year.

This may be the toughest year ever to figure out. Having said that watch the top 4 seeds make it to the finals.

Bsmoov, if you need a mid major to cheer on then SIU Saluki's can always use another fan. Not many people have ever heard of Southern Illinois University but they have great defense and a team that is real well conditioned. Can run up and down the court for the full 60 minutes. Just a few breaks and they can get to the final four which I will consider a victory.

Go Bruins but Niagara in the bubble game has an 11 game win streak coming in and pissed off that they didn't make it out right. No D but lots of offense. They make it in, beat Kansas then look out. Clear path to the final four. Now there is a cinderella scenario. The Purple Eagles haven't won a tournament game in 37 years. They're due!

It doesn't really hurt to miss one in the first round. You get into trouble if that wrong pick goes far or you had that wrong pick in your brakets through the tournament. It's early.

Though it messed my bracket up somewhat, I was glad to see Duke get bounced in the 1st round.

Duke is dead. See ya. Borrrrrring. Too many white guys. Coach K is still all over the tourny in commercials.
This is the first time any of this has done this, at least in this format on Yahoo. I was thinking I had to pick a few upsets to win this but seeing how this is working, I don't know as that is the right stategy. I think you may be better off just going with the favorites in the early rounds. Don't pick an upset in the first week. We'll see.
When you see a 1-2 seed up against a 15-16 you see bigger, better players and realize that a big upset is almost impossible.

Duke's early loss costs me points, but I don't mind it a bit. I just wish it didn't seem as though they were out there making excuses for not winning. The other team brought more to the court is all. Next year Duke will be real contenders.

I hate it when I win. I am the 2007 MaiThai...oh fcuk it. See you guys next year.
My daughter goes to UCLA and she invited ten other Bruins over to my house to watch the final 4 game. At the end of the game, they were all sitting around pretty dejected as Florida was having their way with UCLA. They started a chant, "WE'RE SMARTER, WE'RE SMARTER". I thought it was pretty funny. They're right but something to be said for TWO national championships in the same year. What a year for Florida.
Cheers.

Im a former Bruin and I was sick that day. I think it was all Brewer that got Afflalo out of his game early on. He did get his points but was not a factor. Just too many big man against the Bruins. I cant stand that Noah character, his arsse wont do jack in the NBA. That other center has some talent though.
BTW did you notice all the teams in the end were faouling out against Florida. That was hog wash. The refs called the game theat basically took UCLA out of its defense it had played all tourny. If the refs called looser and UCLA could play its "D" I think it would have been different.

Yea, I agree with both you guys. The UCLA game was called too tight. Florida was destined.
I was in two pick'em tourneys, with over 20 people total and no one picked Florida in either one? A #1 seed that had won it the year before.

UCLA is SMARTER than Florida ? Were and how did they come up with that ?
The student body in general is smarter? The basketball team is smarter than Florida's basketball team ? How and in what way smarter? Higher SAT scores ? The highest SAT score at UCLA is higher than the highest at Florida ? The average IQ is higher at UCLA than Florida ? The professors are smarter ? I have to agree with PINOT, that chant is FUNNY.

UCLA is a very tough school to get into. 50,000 apply for the 4000 positions. They get the cream of the crop.
Here is an article I found:
These top 10 schools are based on Academics, Quality of Life and overall campus resources. A degree from one of these schools will surely lead to a successful career.
1. Princeton
Princeton is a private Ivy League university located in Princeton, New Jersey. It is known to provide its students some of the best financial aid packages making it one of the most affordable colleges in the nation. Princeton is also one of the most beautiful colleges.
2. Stanford
Size wise, Stanford has one of the largest campuses in the nation. It has one of the best law schools and one of the top business schools, especially if you are the entrepreneur type. Located in the Silicon Valley, Stanford is in a prime startup hub and many tech companies have emerged from it's surroundings.
3. Harvard
Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Harvard is the oldest U.S. University still in operation. Harvard is one of the Hardest Colleges to get into with only a 9.3% acceptance rate. Harvard also houses one of the largest academic libraries in the United States.
4. University of California - Berkeley
also known as UC Berkeley, Berkeley, Cal.
Berkeley is the main college in the University of California System, which consists of 10 schools. The student to faculty ratio is 15.5 to 1, which is pretty impressive for a public university. UC Berkeley also offers excellent PhD programs that are tops in the nation.
5. UCLA
UCLA is the most popular college receiving 50,000 applications for admission. It also has one of the best Athletic programs, winning multiple NCAA championships. UCLA is also known as one of the best public research institutions in the nation.
