Should be a real interesting race due to the conditions. I'll still go with Stoner to win but i would have been a lot more confident in the dry. I like the way Dovizioso is coming along and Chris Vermeulen is very good in the wet and of course, Rossi, Pedrosa and Edwards will be there abouts. I'll have a shot at it and say,
1st - Stoner
2nd - Edwards
3rd - Dovizioso

A great win by Stoner, but WTF was Pedrosa thinking, leading by 7.5 secs after a few laps???

Rossi, was never gonna catch Stoner & likewise, Vermuelen wasn't gonna get Rossi.
It was good to see De Angelis up there having a dice with Vermuelen.(the pair of em did well)

Masterful display of wet weather riding.Great effort by Rossi too. It`s never easy in the wet,Stoners onboard camera shots towards the end had my heart racing on several occasions..5555

Pedrosa was way quicker than anyone else, but has a bad record in the wet,so was going to crash for sure,IMO.
Don`t mean the guy any harm, but i had to cheer when he went down,it has helped Stoners chances of another world title immensely.although Rossi is going to put up one hell of a fight.
It would be excusable if Pedrosa locked the front tipping into a slower corner, but to do so on the fastest part of the track,in a straight line???..

I am sure he will be praying for no more wet races this season..

Stoner 4 consecutive pole positions and 3 consecutive race wins and now on to Laguna Seca this weekend, where he won easily last year from Vermulen and Melandri then a 5 week break...

What exactly happened there Lew ?? Did he just grab too much front brake, hard to imagine at this level.

This is turning into a great season and looks like it will go all the way to decide the new champion. I am still cheering for Rossi though I think now Stoner is the man to beat.

It is hard to imagine, but that`s exactly what he did, works in the dry fine, but a little more subtly is required in the wet.
He was just too much faster than the other guys,so was pushing far too hard in the slippery conditions.

Rossi is 20 points in front of Stoner, and has got to be in the box seat, especially with his skill and experience,he only has to keep coming second to Stoner to make it hard for him.
Rossi doesn`t seem to go well at Laguna though...Will be interesting.

Well done to Casey Stoner and the Ducati team. Between them, they have got the bike back to being competitive for the past 4 races. The wet weather really does even the competition so its great credit to Stoner for a third win on the bounce in difficult conditions.

Is it me, or have the last three races all been a little boring?
I want to see the wheel to wheel racing last seen regularly in 06. There has been far too much procession racing like F1 of late for my liking.

Totally agree with you Roger, infact as i mentioned in a previous post i'm really enjoying the 250's much more this year....although Simoncelli led the wet race quite convincingly....

Need to get Hector Barbara, the 250's loose cannon, onto the Moto GP scene.... he'll ruffle up a few feathers with his street style racing lines !!

I think the Moto GP class will only get exciting when there's only a few races left and its tight at the top....

Roger, you're not on your own.
The racing has been boring, in the premier class of late.

Has been far better racing in the WSBK series.

Thumbs up Stoner fasted in practice

Casey Stoner is the fastest in practice at Laguna Seca USA ,followed by Nicky Hayden 0.8 sec's behind , then Valentino in 3rd.
Pedrosa way back in 15 place due to leg and hand injury's.
my money is on a good battle between Casey and Valentino

Yamaha today announced that Valentino Rossi signed another 2 year contract with them, that will see him on a Yamaha for the 2009 and 2010 seasons.

Great news for the sport,he seems to be very happy there now.

Good news about Rossi staying with Yamaha for another 2 years.

I hope i am proven wrong but looking at the qualifying times, this could be a boring race at the top of the field. If things pan out how they went in qualifying, Stoner should win by the proverbial from Rossi in 2nd, with daylight between Rossi and Hayden in 3rd.The real battle seems to be between positions 4 through 8.

How bad is Melandri going??? he's really lost the plot!

Pedrosa out with broken bones in his hand from his high speed crash in Germany.

I`m going for Stoner, Vermulen,Rossi.

Stoner, Rossi + a way behind Vermulen.

Stoner has to do it. Rossi never strong here. Vermulen charging but not gonna happen here.

And proven wrong i was! Stoner obviously had the fatest bike but Rossi was simply too smart for him. Great win and well deserved.

Quite an unexpected win to Rossi.

Stoner was fastest in every session, and the fastest lap in the race.

Rossi knew he couldn`t match Stoners pace,so was desperate not to let him get past,so rode that way.

I guess Rossi knew if they collided and crashed out,he would still have a 20 point advantage and not 15 if Stoner were to take a win.

As it ended up he got a very unexpected extra 5 point gap on the Ducati ace.

It`s really difficult to pass at Laguna,Rossi used that to his advantage.

He wont be able to use those tactics at the next round in Czech in 5 weeks time. The track there is about 6 car lanes wide, and a truer test of speed.

Rossi rode like a maniac......I may be a bit over the top, but I haven't seen him make desperate moves...like he did today, for quite some time.

I was actually waiting for the moment, they were gonna come together & crash.

In the end, it was Stoner who fcuked up..all by himself.. (his own admissions)

They blitzed the field & at one stage I noticed, they had a 22 second lead around the half way mark.

Nasty high side by Lorenzo on the opening lap too.

Summer Break now...........Wonder if any of em will make it to LOS? 555555

Fantastic race !!!
The first laps were simply breathtaking !!!
No one but Rossi could win this race against the fastest bike in the Championship. Well done !!!

That sort of riding is always a grey area in bike racing,it`s more prevalent in sprint racing, although i have seen it at Laguna Seca before,in Superbike racing.Haga (who was an absolute kamikaze) on Troy Corser.

I`m sure Rossi wouldn`t have dared tried those tactics on one of the also rans in fear of being taken out.So in a way he does respect the riding ability of Stoner.Although Rossi did run off the track at one stage, luckily on a part that was paved, and passed Stoner in the process. That tactic in F1 sees the offending driver yielding his position or face a drive through penalty.

I must say in my 20 years of bike racing i have been the instigator and the victim of such tactics. And i know it causes bad blood.

Rossi maybe thinks he has broken Stoner the same way he broke Gibernau some time ago,but time will tell.
But Gibernau never won a title.

So the young aussie will have to put it behind him and continue on where he left off after the 5 week break.

That was the best race since Valencia last season! Rossi and Stoner simply blitzed the rest of the field.
Sour grapes from Stoner afterwards was a bit of a surprise, but its a mans sport, and whinging won't earn him support.
As Rossi said afterwards, he knew his bike wasn't so quick, but just outbraked Stoner on the corners. Smart racing, but the tracks with long straights will see the Ducati of Stoner only) back on top.

I'm sure both riders have equal respect for each others talents.

Poor old Lorenzo breaks the same bone as his last spill. Looked nasty too.

The circus has rolled onto Brno after the summer break, and it`s looking like a race in 2 already, with Stoner and Rossi heading the time sheets.

Poor Pedrosa, last in the first session and only completing 7 laps in the second,of a possible 24 or so.

Looks like he may be still inconvienieced by the hand injury sustained in Germany.

One mistake likes like wiping out his Championship bid this year.
Thats all it takes in this sport.

And his Repsol team mate,Hayden out with an injured foot, sustained in a supermotard race in USA.

I`m sure the sponsors will not be impressed if they don`t get a bike to the grid.
