AAARRRGGH!! Thaksin's after buying Citeh...

Breaking news this morning is that ex-premier Thaksin is planning a 92 million pound buyout of Manchester City.

I wonder if he'll put a block on Falangs buying season tickets..

I read this yesterday and still havn't decided how I feel about this. If it brings money to the club, could obviously be good cos we need some serious money spent on new players, he is also obviously quite an astute businessman but something here does not bring joy to my heart, is it better than another american mogul buying into the premiership?, will all this extra money just go to pushing players prices, wages etc further up? City got good money from the sale of Anelka and Wright-Phillips and I havn't seen their balance sheet for ages but these sales should have made quite a dent in the 30 or 60million debt the club had but Ollie said they were quoted as the 17th wealthiest club in Europe?

I and not just because I am a life long supporter, think they would be a very good purchase for someone, always get good gates, great new stadium and all that is needed is a half decent team and look out, come on I want them to proove IJ's prediction incorrect!!! Cup final in my lifetime, not too much to ask?

Well I think they should apply the 4-1 ratio of English players to foreign players - who would they get rid of:-
Andreas Isaksson - Goalkeeper - Sweden
Kasper Schmeichel - Goalkeeper - Denmark (on loan to Falkirk)
Sylvain Distain - Defender - France
Richard Dunne - Defender - Ireland
Sun Jihai - Defender - China
Hatem Trabelsi - Defender - Tunisia
Ousmane Dabo - Midfielder - France
Dietmar Hamann - Midfielder - Germany
Stephen Ireland - Midfielder - Ireland
Djamal Abdoun - Attacking Midfielder - France/Algeria (dual nationality)
Damarcus Beasley - Attacking Midfielder - USA
Bernardo Corradi - Striker - Italy
Paul Dickov - Striker - Scotland
Emile Mpenza - Striker - Belgium
Georgios Samaras - Striker - Cyprus

Remember with Thaksin taking one work permit, they are only left with six, so they have to get rid of nine players.
Also they should insist that he can own the stadium, but the ground has to be leasehold.

Life-long supporter myself (well 38yrs, since I started going to grammar school just walking distance from Maine Raod) and have been watching eagerly for news about the "potential investors" all season. I felt we definately needed a financial boost, but, like yourself Dodger, I'm not sure how I feel about Thaksin being the investor.

I remember the days when Thaksin was looking at Liverpool and during a press conferance a falang reporter asked a question in Thai. "Oh, you speak Thai" was Thaksin's response with a real peeved look on his face. Since then I've had the feeling that Thaksin really doesn't like falangs.

Can you picture the exchanges between Thaksin and "psycho" when discussing possible player purchases?

If we follow this to it's natural conclusion, our Joey will lead a coupe a few years down the line and oust Thaksin....

Now I read Ray Ranson has come up with another proposal, the American consortium is still in the running and no further news on Thaksin.....

If this carries on we could have an auction and sell the club to the highest bidder.........

Oh, and we've knocked back the rags request to reschedule the derby........I reckon they're sh*tting themselves and the loss to Citeh will be the decisive factor in handing the premiership title to Chelski..

I wonder what the visa restrictions will be? U only admitted first half unless you pay for 60 minute entry permit with 30 minute extension. As for extra time B500 per minute over stay!!

"With Stuart Pearce almost certain to be sacked at the end of the season, Manchester City is a highly possible destination for Allardyce, who was shortlisted for the role of England head coach to succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson last summer. Another possibility, albeit not as strong, is Newcastle United. They have approached Allardyce in the past, but the chairman, Freddy Shepherd, is thought to have reservations about going back to someone who has turned him down.
Manchester City admire the way Allardyce has established Bolton as a top-eight club and the news of his departure has been of extreme interest to the club's chief executive, Alistair Mackintosh. However, there have been categorical denials that Allardyce has been lined up by Ray Ranson, the businessman and former player who has put together a £90m bid to buy the club.

Sources close to Ranson's consortium have stated that he has had no contact with Allardyce for 18 months. Nor would it make sense for Allardyce to commit himself to a takeover bid that has no guarantee of going through. City are opposed to Ranson's plans and are in far more advanced talks with a group of American businessmen, as yet unidentified. A preliminary bid has also been put together by a group led by Thaksin Shinawatra, the former prime minister of Thailand.

Bolton will hold a press conference at 11am today at which they will attempt to answer the numerous questions raised by Allardyce's departure and, specifically, the speed with which it has happened. When Bolton drew 2-2 with Chelsea on Saturday there was no sense that it would be Allardyce's last match.

However, it had emerged in the morning that he planned to leave at the end of the season and it would seem Gartside became aware of this a fortnight earlier. "I've had chance to get used to it because I've known for two weeks," Gartside said. "It's a credit to Sam and other people that have known to keep it to ourselves."

It is understood Gartside contacted the City chairman, John Wardle, last Thursday to ask him what his intentions were for Allardyce. There is a feeling at Bolton that Allardyce decided he had taken the club as far as he could.

A significant unanswered question is why Allardyce has gone now rather than at the end of the season, particularly when Bolton, currently fifth, are trying to secure Uefa Cup qualification.

Gartside's account was that he had accepted Allardyce's resignation "reluctantly" and that it was an amicable parting of the ways. However it cannot be ruled out that Gartside accelerated the process when he discovered Allardyce was eyeing possible new employers. The two men have had a strong relationship, but it has been tested at times this season, particularly after the Panorama documentary about alleged bung-taking in football.

In a carefully worded statement, Allardyce said: "It was mutually decided that I step down now rather than at the end of the season to give my successor the ideal opportunity to experience the preparation and build-up of match day in readiness of next season.

"The decision to leave the football club, which has been my spiritual home for over 18 years, as both player and manager, is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my life. However, after guiding the team to the verge of qualification for European football for the second time in three years, I feel it is the right moment."

Bolton will be under pressure today to provide more detailed answers about the reasons to bring forward Allardyce's planned departure date to such a critical moment in the campaign. All Gartside would say on this matter yesterday was: "He has given his reasons for wanting to leave the club at this time, which are private and we respect that privacy." "

Next rumour is Taksin has increased his offer to 100m.

How must Stuart Pearce feel about this, or has he decided to leave and just concentrate on the u21's?

Allardyce and Taksin at City, still not sure feel too happy about this, but one thing is for sure, City will be bought by someone this summer.

from "Football365"......

"Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has moved into pole position to buy Manchester City after he was granted access to the club's accounts.

Shinawatra's accountants will complete due diligence at City before advising their client whether to make a formal bid for the club.

Shinawatra has been heavily linked with a near ฃ100million move for the Eastlands outfit over the weekend and contact was finally made on Monday.

After failing in his efforts to buy Liverpool three years ago, Shinawatra has not been put off getting involved in the Premiership and sees City as an ideal opportunity."

I also read somewhere that Taksin's bid includes a 50 million pound transfer kitty...

I've got the feeling that this is going to happen.........Taksin/Allardyce at Citeh.

Given the strength of the two personalities though, I can't see it lasting long..

I wonder if the old backroom staff will be kept on..................but in innactive roles.............

........from "football365":

"Joey Barton is set to be sold by Manchester Citeh this summer after his latest shame, with Everton, Newcastle, Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and Sunderland tipped to bid for his dubious services.

The midfielder has been suspended by Citeh for the rest of the season after a training-ground fight with Ousmane Dabo resulted in the Frenchman being taken to hospital. Dabo is reported to have been punched repeatedly by Barton after a row erupted during a practice match.

'After the two midfield players cut each other down with alternate late tackles, Barton taunted Dabo by telling him: "You're s**t." Dabo retaliated by telling Barton: 'You are not as good as you think you are,' and the players began to trade blows,' reports The Daily Mail.

"It was incredible. Joey was over Dabo and still hitting him while he was on the floor," an eyewitness told The Daily Mirrror.

The brawl is the latest in a long line of unsavoury incidents that have blighted Barton's career. Manager Stuart Pearce and chairman John Wardle are believed have already agreed to wash their hands of the player and only a regime change may prolong Barton's Citeh career beyond the summer.

Despite his bad-boy reputation, there will be no shortage of suitors. A week ago, the player would have been valued at around ฃ5m. Citeh are now understood to be willing to accept less than half that sum - 'a development', says The Guardian, 'which is likely to interest Everton, Newcastle and Middlesbrough.'

'While City may have been willing to cash in on Barton during the summer anyway, this latest indiscretion will send his valuation through the floor, with interested clubs such as Everton, Newcastle and Aston Villa aware that City will no longer be able to secure full market value,' concurs The Daily Telegraph."

It gets worse....

"I am disfigured. My left eye has been affected. I believe he put his fingers in my eyes. I am suffering. But I don't remember much because his first punch made me lose consciousness.
I went to turn around, he hit me and knocked me out. He acted like a coward, it wasn't a fair fight.
I just pushed him away and turned my back to walk off. That's when he hit me.
I really don't remember exactly what happened but I've been told by all my team-mates he hit me from behind, a right hook which hit me on the temple and knocked me out for a few seconds.
As I started to fall he jumped on top of me, held my head and punched me twice more in the face. Apparently when I was on the floor he again punched me before being pulled off. When I came round, and it can only have been a matter of seconds, there was blood everywhere.
I was spitting blood and my eye was clouded over and when I realised what had happened - I wanted to go after him.
When I woke up this morning I looked at myself in the mirror with my face all swollen up and I looked like the Elephant Man. I'm a big guy and if it had been a face-to-face fight he would have known about it."

Ooooer....this looks promising, quotes from Ranieri:

"The Manchester City challenge reminds me of the experience I had at Chelsea where without spending £1, we build a good team,"

"It was an achievement that convinced (Roman) Abramovich to buy the club. I created the Chelsea miracle from nothing. Then, mountains of money came as well as a selection of top players."

"The idea is to face Manchester United as soon as possible and be at the same level as them in the standings," he said.

"With Manchester City, I hope to complete every stage. This time, I have been chosen whereas before, Abramovich found me at the club."

From the Sunday Mirror.......

"MANCHESTER CITY chairman John Wardle may make Graeme Souness manager amid fears that Thaksin Shinawatra's £90million takeover bid has hit the wall.

Wardle wants to see the colour of Shinawatra's money within a fortnight or he may be forced to scrap his plans to sell.

The former Thai Prime Minister's accountants have been looking at City's books for weeks as part of a due diligence process. But no formal bid has been made - nor is one expected this week.

Alarm signals are sounding as Shinawatra's attempt begins to look similar to his doomed plans to move into Anfield.

The fear among some of the City hierarchy is that, with the new season kicking off in just over two months, the club has become a rudderless ship. There is no manager following the sacking of Stuart Pearce, very few of the coaching staff remain and while other clubs are doing their summer shopping, City are caught in a void.

Claudio Ranieri, who was ready to become manager if Shinawatra was successful, is now certain to take over at Juventus instead.

Wardle is now preparing to remain in control and former Liverpool, Blackburn and Newcastle boss Souness is on stand-by."

Oh God, please let this not be true..........

From the beeb, just now...

Italian Juventus have appointed former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri as their new coach.
Ranieri, 56, who resigned as Parma coach last week, had been linked with the vacant Manchester City job.

The taksin takeover ain't gonna happen and Souness will be the new Manager...

Ah well, one step forward, three steps back......

The offer is to be financed with 21.6 million pounds in cash and 60 million pounds in debt, the club said."

Formal bid made today, the board are recommending the bid to the shareholders..........me for manager?

We'll be challenging for the title this coming season......Utd, watch out!!!
