most anticipated sports moment

I went to the track in Vnacouver today to watch the simulcast of the Preakness

to me, when they are loading in the horses at the starting gate for a big race, is the best anticipation in sports

any thoughts or other opinions>??

Anyone ever been to the track in BKK.. I am guessing the gambling ban makes this a lot less enticing ??

I really want to do a day at happy valley.. Start real early to late.. People watching as much as the event..

I'll take that first NFL game of the season currently, a little more than 3 months away.

When the 49ers were in their prime I use to hyperventalate before the games. Now I've got the ticket from Directv and watch all the games. Sundays in the fall, my carcus is planted in front of the TV. I love tracking all my fantasy players.

start of a GP is pretty exciting.....tremendous roar on the track and in the stands.......as I guess is the case with most racing genres i have been to....finish line is not too bad either

my favourite is the kick off between Wallabies + All Blacks and the ensuing first tackle in a test match.....(Rugby M26).....sets the tone of the whole game......

a try after time and then watching an ensuing kick to win is not bad either.......especially if it is your team and it is converted

When I lived on the west coast of the US, Superbowl Sunday was the great moment. I would go skiing. Mostly me and the chicks. Spandex everywhere.

I'll never forget my last Superbowl. I walked over from a hotel on Beach Road to the Summer Breeze. 6AM on Bangala Road was a personal Fellini Satyricon experience. Wierd shite. Lots of lonely women. I was an out of place farang at that time of the morning. A little creepy.

Decent game with a good sized crowd at the bar. Got to know Bill and became a Summer Breeze fan that day.

I agree with Nelsonone, the start of a F1 GP is really something, especially when the crowd moves out of the way just before the warm-up lap.

I also like to opening fuzz, when I was able to see the Montreal Canadians play in the Bell Center, with the national anthem and everything, as we don't have that here in Holland.

A couple of other things I like around sports events are when the play the Scottish national anthum before a rugby game with a huge troup of bagpipes. I am not really into rugby, but when I see Scotland plays at home, I just try to watch this part on the BBC and put the tv sound over my stereo system and put it real loud.

I also like to hear somebody say "gentlemen start your engines" before the Indy 500. All the other USA patriotic crap (sorry US BM's, but this is how I feel), they may skip, but this line is great.

that is just a stupid statement
you like to hear the Scottish national anthem, so good on you
but because we play our national anthem before sports its USA patriotic crap?? doesnt make any sense
i know you are not, but you sound ignorant with this statement

It is not necessarily that I like to hear the Scottish national Anthem, but it is the atmospshere as I see it on tv with the bagpipes and all the people in the stands singing.

What I mean with USA patriotic things is not playing the anthem. I actually like that and is similar with what they do in Canada (I think) prior to the hockey games. In Holland we don't have that culture.
But I don't really like all those soldiers marching arround, flag waving (apart from the sports related ones), speeches of how good is the USA and other in my view overdone expressions of patriotic feelings.

ill give a different perspective
sports are a huge part of our culture in the US
a big part of soldiers link back home while at war or overseas is through sports

so if you were a soldier, and your favorite team wanted to thank you for serving your country, wouldnt you jump at the chance to be on the field of your favorite team. imagine how good that feels

also, the fighter jets flying over the stadium before a big playoff game is one of the biggest rushes you will ever feel at a sporting event, trust me
